Archdeacon Will 1658#26 Michael of Marriad Cannell als Gell, died 23 October 1657, page 21:    


Michaell Parish 1657   
The last will and testament of Marriad Gell who 
depted this life ye 23th of October 1657;   
first she committed her soule to God and her
bodie to Christian burial.   
It: shee left to bee given to ye poore one firlet 
malt 2 firlett oate meal and 2 sheepe.   
It: to Gilbt Quirke two keg[?] and 1 calfe;   
It: shee left to Robt Quirke all ye sheepe yt 
belonge to her in Ballaneye.   
It: to her daughter Mable Cannell one firlett 
barlie one peticoate and one sheeete;   
It: to Charles Cannell his wife a sheepe   
It: to William Quaile half firlett of corne,   
It: to her sonne William Cannell all yt was 
in his owne hands of her goods whatsoever;   
It: to Katherin Cannell halfe a steere or 
els halfe a calfe and 2 hoggs to be pd out 
of the goods which was in hir custodie.   
It: more left to ye sd Katherine one blanket 
and one sheete and one peticoate;   
It: to John Cowley 2 muttons   
It: to Sir Patricke Cannell one mutton.   
It: to Margarett Cannell 1 peticoate and one blanket;   
It: to Bahee Cannell one charchife and one sheete;   
It: to her daughter Christian Cannell one sheete 
and one charchife;   
It: shee constituted and ordained her sonne John 
Cannell and her grandchild John Cannell joint 
Executors of all ye rest of her goods moveable 
& unmoveable what soever.

There was some scruple made of the witnesses to this 
in regard yt they are ally’d to the Testator but in 
regard their alliance is neer to the Complaint as 
the execr and also that the number doe suplye that ---[dark edge] 
test; The witnesses are taken sworne  and the will proved.

The Inventorie of ye within named Testatrix as followeth, 
and praised by these whose names followe vizt William Cannell, 
John Caighen, Charles Cannell & John Cannon.
Imprimis  1 old cow priced to 		0:16:--[in fold]
It   1 steeere priced to  			0:12:--
It   1 steere & 1 calfe priced to 		0:8:--
It   7 sheepe & 1 hogg  			0:13:--

[The following was recorded some pages later in the 1659 Michael wills:]

At St Johns Chappell ye 10th of March 1658:  
It is this day agreed upon in Court betwixt 
Jo: Cannell execr of Mariad Gell of ye parish 
of KK Michl and his sister Christian Cannell 
& her husband Gilbt Quaile as followeth:
First for the featherbed and fledge in difference 
betwixt them, that hir said sister shall have 
the sd Featherbed, and Jo: Cannell the fledge;
2ndly for what money or Gold is in the hands & 
custody of ye sd Christian belongeinge to her 
deceased mother; shalbe equally devided betwixt 
them, she haveinge out of ye whole the summe 
of 10s; & soe all controverseyes betwixt her 
in, and about this busnies is this day fully 
ended as witness their severall subscription 
the day, & yeare abovesd:  J
o. Cannell his mark W,   
Gilbt Quaile his mark W,   
Christian Quaile als Cannell her mark X.

This agreement was made before us,

Aprill ye 8th 1687: 
This day Kathrine Cannell als Curlet wife the 
relict of Jo: Cannell one of ye Supervisors of 
this Inventory came & cleared yt all ye goods 
due from her husband Jo: Cannell aforesd were 
satisfied but 23s as more at large appears by 
ye will & Inventory of Philip Cannell one of 
ye Administrators wch is in ye booke for ye 
year 1685, to which recourse may be had for 
better satisfaction; & when thre crossed may be here allowed
