K Christi Leayre 11th of May 1658 (95) The last will and testament of George Carrett, first committed his soule to God and his bodie to Christian burall etc It: he bequeathed unto his mother on meire, It: unto his ffather one horse It: he bequathed unto his sister Jayne six sheepe It: more hee bequeathed unto his father, all the cattle he has of his owne, ffurther his will was that whatsoever his father gave him in bargane of contrtion, should returne to himself and hee to dispose therof to what child hee pleased, It: hee constituted appoynted and ordained his father his true and lawfull exectr: of all his goods movable and unmovable 20 9bris 1658 The exec sworne Testes Dollin Clerke X} Wm Curghie } iurat Tho: Christian } [The following paragraph was be crossed out] Codicill added upon the oaths of the sd witnesses in these words followeinge viz, The sd Testator said if the 40£ wch Parson Parre pmissed at his Contract unto him if he did survive his wife was due or might be by law bequeathed by him, Then he left 10£ therof to Dollin Clark, 5£ to Wm Curghye, 5£ more to his sister Mrs. Lowcay, 5£ to his mother, 20s to his cousen Jony Carrett, 40s to his ant Katherin Carrett, 40s to his cousen Tho: Christian, 5£ to Wm Carrett his brother, and 5£ more to Roger Caine and Katherin Carrett his brother & sister pbat ut Supra Invent at next Cort sub poena juris The above Codicill is cancelled by order explain on thother side of the leafe [a couple of pages later] KK Michael 23th 9bris 1658 fforasmuch as Parson Parre finding himself a---- =ed concerning the codicil annexed to the within will ---- written will of George Carrett ---- that 40£ was pmised at the Contract of the sd George ----[fold] the sd Pson absolutely denyed; and desired au= thoritye to call Jo: Carrett exec to the sd: George wth whom principally the sd: grant cone----[fold] of Contract was made wth the witnesses to ----[fold] that ever such as pmise was made by him or that evr such a thinge was aggreed upon The sd: Jo: hath accordingly appeared and ----[fold] dispute of the same absolutely likewise ----[fold] there was any such pmisse made by Parson Parr or other agreemt: made betwixt them onely a bare motige not concluded upon h----[fold] added by the witnesses in discharge of th----[fold] oaths; and for noe other end or purpose Therefore it is ordered that the sd: codicil added shall be forthwith cancelled and noe further use to be made therof either by g----[fold] inge copyes by the Regr: or otherwise ----[fold] to Remaine cancelled and of noe effect all intents and purposes what soevr The Invent of George Carrett amounts to 8£ The exec hath bound himself to keepe the office harmeles sub poena duble the value
