Archdeacon Will 1659A #52 Bride will of Henry Oates, died 25 December 1658 intestate:     
Summary: wife is not mentioned, son David Oates, dau Joney Oates (married to John Quiddy/Cuddy/Curry who had a contract bargain), pledges: Michael Cross & 
William Skinner   NOTE, the surname of son in law John is recorded both as Quiddy & Cuddy; and that same surname sometimes morphs into 'Curry'.
1691 Composition Book, Bride: Henry Oates had farmland/rent in 1643, and it was transferred to Arthur Cowle, and in 1691, Daniel Christian was entered for 
it   NOTE, Henry was father of David Oates, who was cared for by Arthur Cowle before he died & Arthur was David's executor.

Moore.

Will of son: ArW 1684A #034 Bride will of David Oates, dated 14 December 1684: wife is alive but not around, son xxxx was left 6d (NOTE, that David's wife 
& son apparently abandoned him & were not there to take care of him in his 'infirmity'), Arthur Cowle took care of David when David was 'infirm', also: 
John Callow, Margaret Kelly, Catharine Casement, Daniel Lace, Alice Lace, David Sayle & wife & daughter, witnesses: David Sayle & John Curghey, pledges: 
John Cowle & David Sayle.

Henry Oates departed this life about ye 25th of December intestate and ye next of kindred being several times cited to this Court to prove his will ----[in fold] any were and now was exhibited till this in= stant day Jo: Quittye exhibited a certificate under the hand of Sr Jo: Huddlestone & Jo: Cotter where it is certified that ye sd Henry Oates declared upon his death bed yt he had f---- [in fold] a bargaine of his goods to ye sd Jo: Quiddy and desired yt ye same might stand but foras much as ye witnesses have not appeared to prove ye sd Certifycate, neither doth ye sd bargain appeare proved before the Deemster accordinge to Law notwthstandinge severall Court time given to that purpose And forasmuch likewise it appears yt David Oates son of Hen: Oates ----[in fold] not 6d nor ye value thereof by way of legasie, Therefore it is thought fitt and soe decreed that ye sd David Oates & -----[in fold] sister Jony Oates als Quiddye shalbe his joint Ad= ministrators who are sworn 15 8bris 1659. Salvo tamen vincing Suo jure Decretu est et Solvit ---[in fold] Invent within 14 days subpoena 10s, and that ye same may be per= fected accordingly Authoritye is granted to ye Administr to impanel a jury of honest men to find out in w----[in fold] hands ye goods are. There is further time given [torn]---- by reason of an appeale to ye Governor [edge]------ amounts to ...........4£ 4s 0d.
