John Cotter, 1675

         KK Xt Ley ayre 1675
This is affirmed to be the last will and 
testament of John Cotter who departed this 
life about the 12th of January.  
Imprimis, he bequeathed his soul to God 
and his body to Christian burial.  
Item, he left and bequeathed to his  
brother Robert Cotter 6d legacie, and to 
his sister six pence legacie to cut them 
off his goods.  
Item, he finds that he lent to Ewan 
Kinread 9s 6d for which Wm Corlett became 
security, and he left it upon his 
securitie to pay it.  
Item, he find there was due to him from 
Phillip Carrett 12s for a mayre which 
the testator bought from John Kewney which 
12s he left Phillip Carrett to pay the 
same to the said John Kewney.  
Item, said that there was due from Ewan 
Kinread 14s for half a hide, and that 
he himself ought the said Kinread 14s for hay.  
Item, he said that he had bought a parcel 
of land from John Kewney which cost 3 pounds 
and if he would return but 20s lett him 
to be the said lands.  
Item, he constituted his wife his true 
and lawful Executrix.  
Testes, 
John Kewney, 
Wm Kneene.           
In regard the Testator bequeathed not 6d 
or the value of six pence to his child; 
therefore, he is ordered joint Executor 
with the mother.  The wife Cathe: Kewney 
is sworn in Court in form of law Administrating 
solvo tuanor vinuing suojure[??]  Decretum et Solvit.        

The Inventory taken and prized by 4 sworn 
men amounts to 3s 8d.  All the rest is 
included in the above said Will.  
She proves not the decree ergo ad ca......  
Jane Cotter is to be sworn supervisor.          

At the Court holden in Ramsey Febr 18th 1675, 
before Parson Joh:Harrison official & 
Joh:Huddleston Registrar.

body of Phillip Camaish into St German Prison for denying to prove his wife’s 
will, his children, the Executors being under years, and in the xxxxx xxxxx 
their little goods that was imbeselled and xxxed away, also his sister Jony 
Camaish for her comtempt in the Court.  And also Cath Kewny in KK Christ for 
act proving her husband John Cotter will.
