Michael May 29th 1685 The wife of the above Thomas Tear being now dead, who had the good of the youngest child in her custody: Thomas Tear the other child being att lawful years and constituted Supervisor of his sd. younger Bro: ........ said mothers will, finding him to be incapable to take the charge of the said goods upon him, hath given his full consent unto Thomas Tear junior of the Ballaugh to take the same goods into his custody, who hath accepted of the same and hath given in pledges for the forthcoming of his goods (wch. is 3:15:08 after ye deduction of ye funeral charges, the wifes Legacy etc.) and the good usage of the child untill he come to age Thomas Tear Bro: to the said child and Jon. Cowle(?) ...... ....... Double the value; As witness their subscriptions sd. Day and year above. Note it is agreed upon betwixt the said Thomas Teare that in case the said child died under age, and that his Bro: have his goods by Law in that case, then that ye said Thomas Tear junr. of the Ballaugh is to have ......... allowed him for taking the charge and trouble above mentioned upon him.
