Maughold 1684 William Cubbon Departed this life about the first of July last intestate whereof the Church having in= telligence hath Decreed his children Kathrine and Isabell Cubbon sole and joint Admrs. of all his goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever. The next of Kindred on the fathers side Supervisors; And a Legacy to the wife upon sight of the Inventory. The wife is sworn ............ of the child accord= ing to form of Law, by virtue of the annexed Agreement. Decretum Est. El Solivit ..... The humble petition of Jon: Cubbon Humbly Sheweth How that ye petitioners Brother wth his wife Deceased about five years ago ..... leaving two orphans behind them the young est being bound by Law that ye Petitioner should bring up or maintain, which to this day he hath done by poore endeavour & whereas there was but a small pittance of goods due to this same child about ....... ........ which will not be cleare when the Debt is pd, which main tenance is grievous or burdensom by ye poore petitioner to pay yearly, himself being but a servant man at hire, for that wch he earns or Labours for wth. wch. little goods he had of his own is every yeare taken up for the maintenance of this same orphan soe that now he hath noe manner of thing left to ............ himself or the same child but his wages. And whereas your petitioner is desirable of any friends or relations to ......... or relieve him wherefore it shall please God to vissitt him, he humbly craves the ....... ......... may be pleased to .............................. .......... and to allow a small pittance of goods is due to the same orphan may be towards the main tenance, and the reasons above sd, soe shall he ........ ......... for ye happiness will pray. At Ramsey the 7th ........ 1690 Upon consideration of the above petition the Court hath ordered the Petitioner first to pay all Debts due from the above Decd. William Cubbon and what Assetts Due ........ ........... (wch the Court giving will be very small) that he did bestow the same for the bringing up of the sd. orphan: And this position and order is to be ............. wth the .......... of the sd. Wm. Cubbon als Corkill, for the ......... of the ........... of the child of my Bro. Wm. Cubbon late Decd. with his good will she came to lawfully agree: I doe therefore in consideration that my said Sister in Law Doth Discharge me from the said trouble hereby freely and voluntarily assigne up unto her all such Interest as I might or could hand in and .......... the goods and chattels of the said child and the others in her own custody, in case they or either of them should happen to dye under age in as full and .......... manner as I could doe ye same myself before(?) this agreement.
