49                Bride
This being ye last will and testament of 
Captn Wm Xtian senior of Bride being sick 
in body but of a sound and perfect memorie, 
who departed this life ye 9th of March 
1711/12.  First, he committed his soule 
to God and his body to Christian burial.  
Item, he bequeathed that there was due 
to Parson Xtian his wife ye sum of two 
pound and six or seven shillings.  
Item, he bequeath that there was due 
to Isabell Cowle als Xtian of KK Andreas 
ye sum of twentie shillings.  
Itm, he bequeath that there was due to 
Nicholas Cowley of KK Andreas ye sum 
of ... shillings and six pence.  
Itm, he bequeath to Jon: Quark of 
KK Bride ye sum of five or six shillings.  
Itm, he bequeath that there was due 
to Jon:Quark junior of KK Bride 
ye sum of five shillings.  
Itm, he bequeathed to Wm Lace of 
KK Bride ye sum of ten shillings.  
Itm, he bequeath that there was due 
to Wm Quan of KK Bride ye sum of 
one shilling and three pence or 
two shillings and six pence.  
Itm, he bequeath to his wife Mary a cain.  
Itm, he nominated that there was 
nothing due to his son Wm but ye 
chair, also he nominated that Dan:Xtian 
had nothing to doe with ye table 
unless he would prove it.  
Also he nominated and appointed his 
children Isabel, Charles and Marie sole 
Executor of all his goods moveable and 
unmoveable whatsoever and if in case 
his wife Mary be with child to be 
jointly with ye rest of ye children.

Jan: 31 1714/15:  
The Inventory & accounts are settled in ye 
annexed papers & there is due to ye children 
free and debtless 4 pounds 10 shillings 3 1/2 pence.                  
Note that ye supervisor Capt Xtn that ye 
hive of bees prized to 4s, [and a brood] 
geese at 14s died, & therefore ...x ye 
abatement of 5s 2d.                     

July 2d 1714, KK Bride: 
The Inventory of Capt Wm Xtian being summed 
up amounts to 14 pounds 15 shillings 5 ½ pence, 
wher...xx a hive of bees and a brood geese 
deducted 5s 2d,  = 14:10:3 ½.  
The whole debts betwixt man & wife about 
8 pounds 18 shillings 0 pence, which being 
......xx his part will be about 5:1:3 1/2,  = 5:01:3 ½.      

More due to ye wife for what was 
permitted by Contract  = 3:00:00.    
For his funeral charges pd 2:1:09: 
pd by Capt Wm Xtian his son; 3s 7d 
pd by wife  = 0:18:04.     

The reaping, securing, & threshing 
ye children’s part of ye corn, pd 
by his son  = 0:16:00.     
[Total] 9:15:7 1/2.    
Remainder [inventory minus debts]  = 4:14:08.                    

Jan 31st 1714/5: 
An account of what goods are due to 
Capt Will: Xtian’s wife:   
Due to her by virtue of ye Marriage Contract  03:00:00;

Jan 31, 1714/15: 
The Inventory of Captn Wm Xtian being 
summed up amounts to 14 pounds 15 shillings 3 ½ pence 
......xx a hive of bees & brood geese deducted 5s 2d, 
remain  14:10:3 ½.       

Paid by wife, which is due out herself: 
Drink  0:1:6;   
herring 0:0:6;   
meal (note there was but 3 pottles of meal)  12d;   
probat 0:0:7; 
total 0:3:7        

The Funeral charges, as on ye other  ...x  1:15:3;     

Due to ye wife for what was promised 
by Contract at Marriage  3:00:0.;     
The part of ye Funeral charges pd by ye wife  0:03:7;      
The whole debt betwixt man & wife 
is 9 pounds 2 shillings 11 pence; 
whereof ye son pd 8:11:01, 
& ye wife pd 11s 10d, which being 
proportioned ye Dead’s part will 
be about 5:02:02, & her part is 3:15:10.

Remains due to ye children  4:10:3 ½.                             

Febr 9th 1712/13: 
John Casement enters his claime against ye 
executors of Capt William Xtian for several 
shillings due debt and craves ye Law.            

May 13, 1713: 
Capt James Xtian enters his claim against the 
executors of Capt William Xtian for ten shillings &c.                          

March ye 16th 1725: 
This day Charles & Isabel Christian two of the 
executors of ye within Captn William Christian 
being at lawful years, came to ye Record, & on 
their own acct & ye acct of their sisters Mary 
& Bahee Christian joint Executors with them of 
their within father’s last will received at and 
from ye hands of their nephew Captn William Xtian 
ye sum of three pounds six shillings & three pence 
half penny which with twenty four shillings paid 
unto them before is ye whole of what was due to 
them by ye death of their father aforesaid.  
And they do therefore hereby acquit their said 
nephew his heirs, executors &c, forever for ye 
same and further oblige themselves to be truly 
and justly accountable to ye two absent sisters 
for their proportions of ye said money. 
Witness their marks to their names ye year & day 
above written:
