Dorothy Christian als Cannell depart=
ed this life about the 7th of June last
intestate, whereof the Court having Intel=
ligence, has decreed her 5. children, Jane,
Dorothy, Isabel, David & Jo: Christian Sole
& joint Adm’rs of all her goods moveable
& imoveable whatsoever, who being all
under age, & the next of Kin on the Mo=
ther’s side incapable of an Oath, Capt.
Paul Gelling the Uncle, & Adam Xtian
Father of the Adm’rs are Sworn in form
of Law.
     Decretin est & Solvit
Note, the Adm’rs will have a Title to the
benefits of the annex’d Agreement.
The Inventory within a Month.

Pledges for the Father, who has the
Children & their goods, Capt. Paul
Gellin.

Octob’r 5th 1717.  John Stean enters his
Claim ag’t the Adm’rs of Dorothy Christian
als Cannel, for 7s & craves the Law.

Articles of agreement [Condiscanded?] unto and ….
upon by and betwixt Isabell Christian widdow of the Town of
Douglas for and in the behalf of her son Adam Christian on
the one part and Jo: Cannell of the said Towns by and with
the consent of his wife Mary Cannell for and in the behalf of
their daughter Dorothy Cannell on the other part as followeth

First, whereas there has been a marriage consumnated between 
the above Adam Christian and Dorothy Christian als Cannell
and no contract=bargains heretofore given to ……..
Be it therefore Known by those present that the afforesaid John
Cannell with the consent of his wife Mary do give unto …..
Adam Christian and Dorothy their daughter in the nature of
a portion or marriage goods  all their houses and brew house
with the garden thereunto adjoyning, and also halfe the great
garden by their son John Christian’s house with the brewing
pan now in their own custody after the death of the longer liver
of them John Cannell and Mary his wife together with the best
furnished feather bed in their custody and also a childs part of goods
at the Latter day:  And further the abovesaid Jon Cannell and 
his wife to hereby oblige themselves that after the death of the longer
Liver of them the abovesaid young Couple shall have [with the?] house
=hold … or whatever may or can be called household …..
their afforesaid house linnen and woolen not excepted.

The above Issabell Christian doth give and [has hereby?]
given unto her afforesaid son Adam Christian in ….
all her wordly goods excepting some small ….
be Lawfull for her to dispose of to ye ….
Son Adam keeping and maintaining her his said mother ….
…. during her naturall life.

And Lastly, for the … performance of all all and singular 
the promises all parties herein and hersunto [conesined?] have
bound themselves in the penalty of fourty pounds [Mort:?] in the
nature of all fines according to the Laws of this Isle.  In
Wittness whereof they have to their names fixed their seals 
this the 9th of March 1704/5.

John Cannell and Mary his wife, and also Isabell Christian
have acknowledged all the within and above written articles 
to be their Voluntary Act and deed before me.
