Ewan Christian, 1717

44       KK Bride, September 6th, 1716
This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of 
Ewan Christian senior of Cranstall &c. 
First, he left to his grandson Charles Cowle three pounds. 
Item, he left to his daughter Mary Cry als Christian six 
pence legacy. 
Item, left to his son Ewan Christian six pence legacy. 
Item, left to his daughter Kathrine in London six pence legacy. 
Item, left to his daughter Elizabeth six pence legacy. 
Item, he said there was due to his granddaughter Elizabeth 
Kissage four pounds. 
And also due to his daughter Kathrine in London four pounds. 
Item, he left to his wife the black colt. 
Item, he left to his son in law John Cowle his cane. 
Item, left to the witnesses David Christian & 
Daniel Christian twelve pence apiece. 
Item, he nominated and appointed his daughter Isabel 
Christian sole Executrix of all the rest of his goods 
moveable and unmoveable whatsoever. 
Likewise he left Capt Nicholas Christian senior & 
Capt John Wattleworth overseers. 
Witnesses: 
David Christian, 
Daniel Christian. 
The Executrix sworn in form of Law. 
Pledges to pay all debts and legacies are John Cowle 
& Ewan Christian junior. 

The Inventory next Court. 

February 14th, 1717/8
Mary Cry als Christian enters her claim against the 
Executrix of her father Ewan Christian for all the 
corbs due to her by the death of her mother, and 
craves the Law. 

Die & Anno Predicto: Note there is five shillings 
due to Kathrine the above Ewan’s daughter, now in 
London, the said 5 shillings being her part of the 
price of the standing goods &c., in the parlor, 
which said sum is in the hands of her sister Mary Cry &c. 

November 4th, 1717
I do acknowledge to have received at and from the hands 
of my sister in law Isabel Cowle als Christian the full 
and just sum of four pound legacy which my father in law 
Ewan Christian senior of Cranstall left to my son Charles, 
I say received by me John Cowle. 

February 14th, 1717/8
John Cowle acknowledged the above receipt 
before me, William Gell Registrar. 

I Mally Cry als Christian do hereby acknowledge to have 
received from my father Ewan Christian Executrix the sum 
of ten shillings as legacy left by my sister Ann Christian 
which lay in his hands, with 12 pence more as legacy left 
by my said sister & Cathrin now in London for which I do 
discharge the said Executrix forever. And so doth my 
husband Daniel Cry also. As witness our marks to our 
names this 16 August 1717.
