This is affirmed to be the last will [and testament] 
of May Quayle of Tolt a will, xxxxx being of [sound mind] 
& memory at the making thereof, departed this life 
the 29th of Novr anno predicto.   
Imprimis, She commended her soul to God 
& body to Christian burial.  
Item, She bequesthed to ye Heir of [ye]
Estate John Quayle all her wild sheep both 
young & old, & having settled accts wth 
him, it was con----- betwixt them that ye 
sd Heir was to pay Jo--- Kinred 2s 3d, 
& thereupon she left him ye sd Heir her 
half of the pottle-measure, a mug xxxx 
wooden cans, & also her pt of a rop (as 
one of the witnesses declares) & ordered 
him to see that ye 8s due to his sister Margt 
shd be pd out of the whole of her goods, 
vizt before any division shd be made betwixt 
her & the other Exr.  
Item, She bequesthed to her daughter Jane 
a little wheel, as satisfaction for ye -he sheep 
xxxx had given her, as also the piece of 
camlet sent to Douglas, if unsold, & in case 
it was sold that then the money shd be the sd Jane’s.  
Item, She left to her own sister Isabel her 
wearing cloaths, vizt., those she wore every 
day, & declared Jon. Kewley ow’d her 20s 
& Gilbt Curlet 6d, & further that she ye 
testatrix ow’d Kath. Garret 4d.   
Item, She declar’d that her daughter Ann 
& her husband Tho. Cowley were pd & 
satisfied all that was due to them, wth 2s 
overplas, & as to the heifer left by her late 
husband to her daughters Anne & Margt 
she declar’d she desir’d no goods agt it, 
being satisfied wth his pt of ye cow wch 
was left to herself.  And she also will’d that 
her daughter Anne shd be cut off wth 6d 
legacy, in case she laid claim to any pt of her goods.  
To the witnesses she left 6d apiece legacy.  
And lastly having order’d her goods not to 
be valued, xxxxx xxx xxxxx daughters Margt 
& Jane joint Exrs of all the rest of her goods 
moveable & immoveable wtsoever.  
The Testatrix also declar’d John Kinred ow’d 
her one shilling & od of the price of the cow 
she sold him last year wch 1s 4d wth ye 
2s 3d ye Heir was to pay, was to satisfy 
him for ye hay.  
The Heir also promis’d to give ye next 
summer’s grazing gratis to his sisters cow.

Tho. Curlet, jur.                        

Margt one of the Exrs is sworn in Court in 
form of Law, as also the sd Margt, & John 
Quayle, in behalf of the other Executrix 
underage, whose goods are in the sd John’s hands.     

Pledges for both John & Margt are the witnesses.     
Probatum est & solvit 12d.                        

Novr ye 25th 1723
Tho: Cowley enters a claim against ye Exrs of 
Mary Quayle for ye sum of twelve shillings & craves ye Law.”
