55 KK Andrews 1724 This affirmed to be the last will & testament of Bahy Sayle als Cotter who departed this life ye 15th of March 1724 & was in perfect mind & memory at the making of it. First, she committed her soul to God, [and] her body to Xtian burial. Item, She left to her hu[suband] Philip Sayle her part of a fledge, blanket, canvas, & bolster, with a choice pair of hose. Item, She [left] to her children a fledge, blanket & canvass to ... in, and her husband gave consent that his part [of] them shud be at ye childrens use. Item, She [left] her part of thethreadyarn, hemp & flax to .... her children as soon as may be. Item, She left her part of the corn (after ye sowing of ye crop) fo ye use & maintainance of her children. And her husband con =sented & promised to work & soweverythe next crop for ye use of her children. Item, She left to her eldest daugr a red petticoat & her best mantua Item, to her youngest daugr Ann Sayle a clad petticoat: and her linens she left betwixt her two daugrs bahy & Ann Sayle. To her sister Bet[ty] a fine apron. To her sister Margt a coif of .... cloath & a green apron if she woud accept them... Item, Her sister Betty was to keep the cloaths for her childen till they came to age; and if the died under age, she was to have the said cloaths herself. She left to her brother John six pence legacy. To her maid Doll Kewn an old flannlel blue petticoat, & a plaid petticoat in ye [wagon] that was due to her amd of she was not willing & content therwith, then [she] was to get a new petticoat as was promised to her She made a prsend of ye kear yarn to her brother John wch she desired might be repaid. she declared yt tho: Sayle owed 39s 3d. Lastly, She consituted & apponted her thre children Bahy, Ann & Philip [Sayle] joynt Excrs of all ye rest of her goods moveable [& im] moveable; & desired Ewan Cotter & Bahy Cotter to ... overseer; and if ye children shud die under age ... half their goods shud fall to ye overseer, & ye [other] half to the husband. And six pence legacy to ye witnesses. An if her husband pleases he might take ... children & their goods; he promisng to bear one half of ... funerall charges, except the coffin.
