This is affirm’d to be the last will of 
Thomas Tear of Ballaugh who departed 
this life the 21st of February, being in 
perfect mind & memory at the making 
of the same.   First he recommended his 
soul to God & his body to Christian burial.   
Item, he bequeath’d to his eldest daughter 
the heiress his proportion of the crop of 
corn, & the husbandry gears and one of 
the plowing beasts.   Item, He bequeath’d 
to his loving wife the black mare.  
Item, he left to his brother John Tear all 
his cloath & the sd John & his sister Margt 
to be supervisors of his children.  
Lastly, He constituted and appointed his 
daughter Joney to be whole & sole 
Executor of all the rest of his goods 
moveable and immoveable whatsoever.  
Item, he bequeathed to the witnesses of 
his will six pence apiece.

The Inventory of the goods of Thomas Teare 
of Ballavalley priz’d by 4 sworn men, vizt, 
Gilbt Tear, Wm Corris, Wm Cry, and Thomas 
Stean as follow:   
Imprs, The Dead’s pr of one horse, one mayre & 2 colts  02 pounds : 13 shillings : 08 pence;      
The Dead's pt of two cows two little stears one 
heifer & one calfe, the widow having 6s in the heifer  02:16:08;      
Two brood gees the Dead's pt  00:01:04;      
One swine the Dead's pt  00:02:08;      
The deads pr of the sheep at 1s 4d per beast  00:03:01;      
And English spaid the Dead’s part  00:01:00;      
The Deads pt of halfe a hyde & a tanned skin  00:01:04;

The execrx being underage, the supr John Tear 
& the wife are sworn in Court in form of Law.  
Probatum est & Solvit xx.    
The Inventory next Court.   
The goods & children in the mother’s hands with ye 
Lands; And ye superv has consented & agree, that 
if ye children die under age, half the goods are to 
return to him, & other half to ye wife; who is to have 
all the houses & lands till ye Heir came to 14 years.  
And she has given pledge Gilbt Tear & John Tear 
witnesses of ye will.                          

Debts to be deducted out of ye Inventory of 
Tho: Tear vizt., the one half of the xxxx foll., 
except funeral charges wch are to be deducted wholly:

Mar 1st 1724: 
The widow & Supervisor have delivered this acct of 
debts to me, Wm Walker.                            

Ballaugh:  
Jony one of the children of Thomas Tear and his 
Execrx having departed this life about 20th of 
February, the Court has decreed her goods to her 
sister Easther, who being under age, the sd goods 
are in her Father's Inventory annex’d.  
Decretum est.
