27     Rushen
Thomas Kermod senior of Surby in the parish of KK Christ 
Rushen, who departed this life in March 1731, being of 
perfect mind and memory, made his last will in presence 
of the subscribing witnesses of April 23, 1730, as followeth. 
First, he committed his soul to God and his body 
to Christian burial. 
Item, he left to the poor of the parish 3 shillings. 
Item, to Catharin Read and her daughter Marjery 5 shillings 
equally betwixt them. 
Item, he forgave his daughter Isabel Gawn als Kermod of 
the Rouany forty shillings he lent her, and also bequeathed 
her 20 shillings more for a legacy. 
Item, he left to his said daughter’s four children 20 
shillings equally betwixt them. 
Item, he also added, that he left his said daughter his 
part of the bees they had betwixt them. 
Item, he bequeathed to his son Thomas’s 3 children 20 
shillings apiece. 
Item, to Paul Crebbin curate a mutton. 
Item, to John Garret clerk of the parish one quart of wool. 
Item, he declared that Patrick Carrin owed him two and 
twenty shillings for his widowright in the Estate at 
that time, of which he left to the said Patrick 10 
shillings, and ordered him to pay the rest to his children 
equally betwixt them, for a legacy. 
Item, he declared that he left a quarter of the Estate 
sown with the said Patrick Carin, which was agreed on 
then, that the Testator should take into his own hands, 
whenever he should want the same, which now he forgave 
the said Patrick Carin, provided he should not insist 
on the best pott for the corb. 
Item, he declared that Robert Waterson senior of 
Ballapharson owed him 5 shillings 20 pence. 
Lastly, he nominated and appointed his son Thomas Kermod 
whole and sole Executor of all the rest of his goods 
moveable and immoveable whatsoever.

The Executor Sworn in Court in form of Law, 
and gave pledges the Revnd Mr. Quayle and 
John Garret the Clark
