The last will & testament of Gilbert Skinner who 
departed this life about the third day of December 
last being of perfect mind & memory at the 
making of it.   
First, he committed his soul unto God and 
his body to Christian burial.  
Item, he bequeathed to his daughter Ellnr 
Skinner a cow halfe a stear and a quarter 
part of another stear which is already in her 
own keeping; he also left to his sd daughter 
Elinr a heifer of a year & a halfe old; he 
further left to his foresd daughter a stear 
halfe a year old with a mair with her foal 
together with a feather bed bolster coverled 
blanket & sheet; as also a coat vest wasecoat 
two shirts a pair of breeches one pair of 
stockin & one part of shooes;  He also left to 
his foresd daughter Elinr his part of the 
beehives  twixt himselfe & Dan: Tear.  
He desired his son in law Jon. Christian to 
give his sister Elinr Skinner a sheep.   
He declared that Isable Teare owed him 6d.  
He likewise declared that his son in law 
John Teare was fully paid for his marriage 
dowry whatsoever.  He left 6d legacy to 
every one that swore swears or claim right 
to his Executorship contrary to this will.  
He left to his grandchild the Heir his gun 
wch for the future to pass as heirloom in 
his Estate.  Lastly he constituted & appointed 
his son in law John Christian lawfull Executor 
of all the rest of his goods moveable & 
immoveable whatsoever.  To the witnesses 
of the will he left 7d each.   
Witnesses: 
Samuel Kinley, 
Phillip Radcliffe, jurati.                    

The Execr sworn in Court in form of Law.  
Pledges are the witnesses of the will.  
Probatum est & solvit 12d.                              

Lezayre 3d Augt 1762:  
This day Eleanor Teare als Skinner the widow 
& relict of John Teare late of Ballavane[?] 
in the parish of KK Andrews came to this 
Registry and acknowledged that she hath 
recd her half or moiety of the several legacies 
& bequest which were left unto her by the 
above named Gilbt Skinner her father, and 
that she is fully satisfied for her part or share 
thereof being the one half (the other half 
belonging to her son Gilbt Teare her late 
husband’s Execr) at & from the hands of 
the above named John Christian of 
KK Andrew’s Execr to her sd father and 
doth hereby acquit release & discharge 
the said John Christian his Execrs 
administrators and assigns of her part or 
half of the sd several legacies & bequests 
for ever.
