77. Ballaugh The Last Will and Testament of Mrs.Jane Corlet als Christian of Ballakeag on Ballaugh who Died abt.yl.27th. of nov1739 And was of perfect mind and memory at the making hereof Impt.She Committed her Soul to God, and Body to Christian burial 2ndly.She declared that she owed the Sum of 20 Shills to yl.Revd Mr.Bridson Same Certain Sum to Wm.Corlet; the Sum of 31 Shills Brittish unto her Sister yl.Marjory, abt.24 shills unto her Servt.maid, And declared that the accts.between her and the Servt.man were near a ballance. That She had Recieved the Sum of four pounds in part of Rent from Wm.Cain, that she owed 2 shillings to John Killip for herrings She declared that PattCannell was indebted unto her in the Sum of 20 Shills & 5 shillin Interest, three pounds from Dan Kelley, the price of a Cow from John Cowley 3dly.She bequeathed the bay mare And Little Colt unto her Son John Corlet with the new Ladder unto her sd.Son he paying 2 shills for sd.Ladder ~ She bequeathed the Big Chest in the Kitchen, the bed whereon She lay with the Cloaths thereon (Except one Blanket & Rug) one little Single wheel unto her Closest Dau ghter Isabelle she left the bed above thairs with its Cloaths and the above Excepted Rug, & Blanket the Choice Little Wheel s little box, & trunk unto her youngest Daughter Jane, a red petticoat & Little red Blanket unto Mary Calister, her Cap & Cloak unto her Sister Marjory, and ? olive Gown & Checker apron unto Maret Quayle her Servt.Maid, She bequeathed Six pence to Each the witnesses of this Will She declared that She and her father were Quit in all Accounts depending between them She appointed the Rev'd Mr.Bridson Supervisr.of her Children Lastley She Constituted nominated and appointed her sd.2 daughters Isable & Jane Corlet Sole Executrs.of all the Rest of her Goods of what nature Soever Testos Thos.Killip John Bridson | The Testatrix furtherappointed & nominated, Capt. Wm.Corlet Junr.of KK Michael & John Christian of Lezair Guardians or Supervisrs.Jointly along with the foresd.Mr.Bridson Rector of Ballaugh ~ KK Michael ~ Janry.10th.1739 Testes It being a Sickly time in the John Bridson | Parish of Ballaugh, to pursue Wm.Corlett~ | Inconveinsneys yt.may happen Thos.Killip & Jon.Bridson have now prov'd the within Will in form of Law ~ Before me ~ EdwMoore Margaret the Aunt together wth.Mr.Ewan & Robt. Corlet the Uncles are Sworn Exerssrs, who are to ~ Sell the Goods at publick Cant for the benifit of ~ the Orphans ~ The Heir is at present to be in the hands of John Christian of the Curragh in ~ Lazayre ~ who is to be Allow'd for his Maintenance out of the profits of yl.Estate At the Discission of the Court. ~ The Eldest Daur.untill she is at Lawfull years is Committed to her Uncle Robt.Corlet ~ And the youngest Daur.is also in the Custody of John Xtian aforesd.~ After the Goods are Sold at the best Advantage Ewan, Robt.& Margery Exetrs.are to return the Valuation to the Regry. And have given Pledges Robt.Brew of Jurby & John Trar? of Ballaugh ~ Probatum est & Solvit 12d. ~ Octr.30th.1750 ~ This day John Cottier Husband of Isabel Corlett, one of the Exrs.of her mother Jane Corlett, & John Corlett Husband of Jane Corlett the other Exex., came to the Registry & acknowledged to have received from bv their Uncle Mr.Robert Corlett, with all that was due unto them or either of their wife's by the Decease of their sd.mother Mrs.Jane Corlett, & do hereby acquit & Discharge the sd.Mr.RoCorlett his Heirs & Exr's forever for the Same ~ John Cottier John Corlett his mk X this before me JnWilks ArRegcy. At Douglas Nov.12th.1751 John Corlet the Heir having come to lawful years, has made choice of John Gile of Lezayre to be his Guardian who is accordingly sworn to be aiding and Assisting to him with his best counsel & advice in the managemt. of his Affairs ~ whereupon the former Guardians are discharged ~ before me Matthw.Curghey
