The last will and testament of John Cowley of Knockbane who departed this
life about the 7th of January last and being of perfect mind and memory at
the making hereof -
FIRST He committed his soul to God and his body to christian burial. ITEM He
left to his eldest son Patt Cowley his part of the speckled Ox and the ox
that went foremost upon the inner side of the plow together with the whole
crop sown and as much of the remainder after seeding as will be sufficient
for board for him and a wife in case he should get married together with all
the husbandry gears.
ITEM   He left to his son Philip Cowley twenty shillings legacy.
ITEM   To his son John Cowley ten shillings legacy.
ITEM   He left to his daughter Madge Cowley als Cain thirty shillings. ITEM
He left twelve pence a piece to all his grandchildren.
ITEM   He declared that he owed nineteen shillings to his brother Pat
Cowley.
ITEM   To the little girl viz: Averick Kelly he left her two shillings.
ITEM   He left six pence both of the witnesses of this will and LASTLY he
nominated and appointed his two children viz: Wm and Joney Cowley sole and
joint executors of all the rest of his goods moveable and immovable
whatsoever.
Witnesses:  Patrick Cowley and Joney Kinley

KK Michael May 1, 1740 William and Jony Cowley, the executors nominated in
the will are sworn to be just oen to the other and have given pledges, viz
Patrick and son of Thomas
