COSTEAN, Henry 1740-1 Arb A 17 0106216 17 This is affirmed to be the last will & testament of Henry Costain of Balla KillPatrick, who departed this life about the 30th of March being of sound mind & perfect Memory at the making & declaring hereof. 1st, He commended his soul to God & his body to Christian burial. 2ndly, He willed & bequeathed to his daughter Elizabeth Costain his half of the ----- commonly known & distinguish'd by the name of Creggans Hiatten[?]. Item, He left and bequeathed to his sd daughter Elizabeth a cow to satisfy a legacy of ten shillings left her by the will of her grandfather Wm Costein & the overplus he left as a further legacy by himself; He also left to the sd Elizabeth three or four sheep. Lastly He left his Lands & other goods to his wife during her natural life, & the Lands afterwards to descend to his only son Wm Costain if he was able to manage it, and in case he was not, the sd lands to be then at his mother's disposal, & ------ed to the due maintenance & support of the sd son during his natural life, & Lastly, he constituted his wife Katharine Costain Executrix of all the rest of his effects moveable & immoveable whatsoever & if his wife should remarry he debarr'd her from having any right to or part of his goods with 6d Legacy. Witnesses present: William Corrin my mrk X William Bridson my mrk X, jurati. The Testator having bequeathed no Legacy to his daughter Margt a minor, she is therefore decreed co:Exectrx wth her mother Cath: Costain. Elizabeth the daughter at age together wth the mother are sworn supervisors of the orphan as also of Wm the other, and are sworn for paymt of the Debts and Legacys, to wch end they have given pledges vizt: the Witnesses of the will.
