The last will and testament of Thomas Kermod of the parish of Trinity Rushen who departed this life the 28th July anno predict being of sound mind and memory at the making hereof. Imp: He commended his soul to Almighty God ad his body to Christian burial. Item He bequeathed to his two sons Henry and Thomas the sum of forty pounds which he had secured by mortgage upon a certain parcel of land belonging into Mr Thomas Clark of Jurby together with one years interest arising form the said sum, equally between them. Item: He bequeathed to the minister of the parish of Rushen a mutton. Item: To his neighour John Christian a coat. Item: To the poor of said parish a firlet (125 lbs) of barley. Lastly he nominated constituted and appointed his loving son Wm Kermod sole executor of all the rest of his goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever. These particulars he pronounced and declared at his last will in the presence of us the subscribing witnesses: Nic Christian Henry Qualtorugh Jurati At a Consistory Court in KK Michael Aug 9 1744 Henry Qualtrough one other the witnesses being too near related to the executor. This will is proved and accepted with the consent of Henry and Thos Kermod brothers of the executor whereupon Wm Kermod is sworn executor in form of law and has given pledges for payment of debts and and legacys namely his brothers Henry and Thomas aforesd Probatum est John: Cosnahan and Edw:Moore
