In the name of God Amen
I Wm Christian, Smith, in KK Michael being sick and weak in body but of
perfect  mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in
form and manner following.
First I commit my soul to Almighty God and body to Christian burial.
Item I leave and bequeath to my eldest son John Christian my part of the
croft and houses purchased by the quarterland of Balleyr bearing the annual
Lords rent of eighteen pence together with a piece of intack and meadow in
KK Christ Lezayre of the yearly rent of three pence to be possessed by and
enjoyed by him as soon as he comes to the age of twenty six years complete
unto which my dear wife Cath Christian doth give her full consent to give
and leave her part of the premises unto her said son after her decease.
Item:  I leave unto him my said son my part of the Smithy tools unto
which my said wife consents to give him her part of the same
immediately after the probation of this will.  He our said son paying unto
the rest of the children the sum of eight pounds equally betwixt them
and likewise to pay six pounds towards discharging debts and
encumbrances upon the premises.
Item:  I leave eight pence a piece to the witnesses of this will and Lastly
I nominate and appoint my dear and loving wife Catharine sole executrix
of all the rest of my goods and effects movable and immoveable whatsoever.

At a Chapter Court in KK Michael 29 Oct 1745 Catharine the widow is sworn
executrix in form of law and gives her consent to the several bequests as
expressed in the within will.  And whereas the testator has obliged his son
John Christian to pay to the rest of the children eight pounds as also six
pounds towards discharging of debts upon
consideration of the lands houses and such said John consents thereunto and
to be liable to his mother of payment of the said six pounds when he comes
to twenty six years of age.
Pledges for the executrix for the payment of debts and legacys are Wm Lace
Vitchel and Wm Vondy of Jurby  Probatum Est   Joh: Cosnanah and Edv:Moore.
Feb 10 1755 - James Craine husband of Margt one of the children of the
within testator Wm Christian acknowledges to be fully paid and
satisfyed in the sum of forty shillings being her share of the eight
pounds chargeable upon and payable by her brother John Christian and hereby
acquits and discharges the said John Christain and all others for the same.

1 Sep 1755 - William Cannell husband of Cath Christian one  of the
children of the testator Wm Christian and said Cath herself
acknowledged to be fully paid and satisfyed in the sum of forty shillings
being her share of the eight pounds payable by her brother John Christian
and hereby acquits and discharges the said John Christian his heirs exors
admors and assigns for the same.  This before Me  Ja:Wilks Ep Reg
6 Apr 1761 - William Christian and Ann Christian two of the children of
Wm Christian and testator acknowledged to have respectively received from
their brother John Christian the sum of forty shillings each being their
share of the eight pounds payable by their said brother in virtue of the
said father's will and hereby severally acquit and discharge the said John
Christian their brother, his heirs admors and assigns for the same Witness
their marks to their names
