The last will and testament of Isabel Gawn als Kermod of the Rowany
who departed this life the thirteenth day of August 1745.
Impl:  She commended her soul to God and her body to Christian burial. Item:
She bequeathed to her son Henry Gawn her moiety of the crop team and
husbandry gears, the bed which he her said son then lay on, together with
the bed cloathes thereunto belonging, and one bed canvas more and a blanket;
she bequeathed to littler heifers and half a dozen ewes equally between her
said son Henry and her son Thomas Gawn.  And whereas
there is a certain parcel of intack commonly called Wattleworth's
Curragh in the said parish that was lately purchased from John Quelling
of Castletown and Catherine his wife, by the testatrix's husband.  She
leaves the same to her husband during his natural life willing and
requiring that the said purchased shall after the decease of her said
husband fall wholly and without any encumbrance to her son Henry above said
to which her said husband freely gives consent, settling the same to go as
inheritance for the future upon the heirs of the Rowany along with the
quarterland.  The said son Henry paying to his sister Isabel at his entering
into possession of the said purchased intack the sum of fifteen pounds.  In
like manner it is consented to by the testatorix's said
husband and willed by the testatrix that if the mortgage which they have
upon a certain little meadow being a part of the quarterland of Balla
Creggan be not redeemed before the decreased of the said husband that the
said meadow shall wholly fall to the hands of their son Henry after
his father's decease, he the said Henry paying to his said sister Isabel at
his entering into possession thereof the sum of twenty pounds.
Item:  It is willed by the testatrix and consented to by her said husband
that all the lands they had in mortgage in Ballakilvorey in the parish of
Kirk German should fall to their son Thomas to be possessed by his their
said son immediately after his father's decease.  He the said Thomas paying
to his sister Isabel aforesaid the sum of forty pounds when he enters into
possession of the said lands.
Item:  She left her moiety of the interest or the rent yearly arising out
of the said mortgaged lands to be from year to years during her said
husband's life equally distributed between her said son and daughter Thomas
and Isabel Gawn.
Item:  She bequeathed twenty shilling to be distributed to the poorest
objects in the parish at her husband's discretion.
Item:  She left to the two maid servants Margt and Eleanor Maddrell a
petticoat each.
Item:  She left all the rest of her apparel linnen and woollen to her
daughter Isabel.
Lastly she nominated constituted and appointed her said loving husband sole
executor of all the rest of goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever.

Henry Gawn the widower is sworn executor in form of law and having
given pledges for payment of debts and legacys Mr William Harrison and
Robert Moore one of the witnesses.
The excutor give his consent in court to the several articles settlements as
more fully mentioned in the within will as far as concerns him.

16 Feb 1747 - Thomas Kneal husband of Isabel Gawn acknowledges to be fully
paid and satisfyed by his father in law Henry Gawn for the fifteen pounds
which was to be paid her after her mothers deceased - as also to be fully
paid and satisfyed for the further sum of twenty pounds which was also to be
paid to said Isabel after her fathers's decease and upon Henry Junior his
taking possession of the said lands of BallaCreggan as within ----------.
And does hereby acquit his said father in law and all others of the said
legacys forever,

I Thomas Nelson of Ballaneal in the parish of Trinity Rushen do hereby
acknowledge to have received from my brother in law Thomas Gawn the sum of
forty pounds Manks valued the said sum being part of the legacy due to my
wife Isabel Nelson als Gawn by her mother last will and I do therefore
discharge the said Thomas Gawn from any further demand that
I might have upon him in that behalf, and this in full of all accounts
between me the said Thomas Nelson and said Thomas Gawn to the day of the
date hereof this 25th January 1762.  Thomas Nelson my mark X
