April 14th 1733. At the Matrimonial Contract of Henry
Gawn & his wife Margt Gell of ye parish of KK Xt Rushen

[It] is agreed upon that Margt Clucas als Corkish of the sd parish
doth hereby promise to give in the nature of Marriage Dowry
with her daughter Margt Gell unto her son in law Hen:Gawn
[the] half of all her goods moveable & immoveable in present
posseion; and the remainder of all the goods she shall be
possed of at the latter day to the sd Henry Gawn & his wife
Margt Gell, after the decease of the above Margt Clucas, except
[only] her wearing apparel which is then to be will'd at
her own disposal.   In consideration of which the sd
Henry Gawn & his wife Margt do oblige themselves to
maintain Margt Clucas thier mother, with diet, lodging &
all other necessaties during her natural life.
     But if Margt the wife of Henry Gawn dies within a 
year and a day after her marriage, then Margt Clucas her
mother is to provide for her self and Henry Gawn is
to have four pounds only out of the goods, [returning] tje
rest for her own use.  Henry Gawn doth likewise oblige
himself to give the like sum of four pounds to his wife
Margt in case he dies within a year & day as aforesd.
      And for the faithful performance of which covenant
the parties do oblige and bind themselves their heirs, Exrs
Administrators & Assigns in the penal sum of twenty
pounds sterl: to be pay'd according to law. In testimony
thereof they have hereunto set their names & marks
the day and year above written.

Margt Clucas and Hen: Gawn came and have
acknowledged the within articles of marriage
to be their act and deed. Before me
            Cha: Moore

At Castletown - Feb 26 1745

The witin Margt Clucas having departed
this life Intestate - and having no other effect
saving the clothes reserv'd to her own disposal
Hen: Gawn her son in law being absent
Margt his wife is sworn for the paymt
of debts according to law. And the sd effects
committed unto her, of wch she is to
enlist an inventory if thereunto required.
