20       Lezayre
In the name of God, amen. I MARGARET CURGHEY ALS LOWCAY 
of Ballakillinghan in the parish of Lezaire, being weak 
and infirm in body but of perfect mind and memory, for 
which I praise God, do make this my last will and testament 
in manner and form following. 
First, I commend my soul to God hoping thro' the merits 
of my blessed Redeemer to obtain remission of all my sins, 
and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of 
my Executrix hereafter named. 
Secondly, I leave to my GRANDSON JOHN CURGHEY my silver 
tankard, my clock and one of the largest pewter dishes 
with my large Bible, which are to remain in the house 
as heirlooms. 
Thirdly, I bequeath to my three GRANDCHILDREN EDWARD, 
ALICE, & JANE CURGHEY five guineas equally betwixt them, 
which sum I have deposited in their Mother's hands. 
Fourthly, I leave to my GRANDSON JOHN STEVENSON a piece 
of gold called Jacobus & one of the largest pewter dishes. 
Fifthly, I leave to my GRANDDAUGHTER MARGARET CURLET the 
clerk's wife, the largest half dozen silver spoons with 
one of the largest pewter dishes, which spoons and dish 
it is my will shall continue as heirlooms to whomsoever 
of her children shall be heir at law. 
Sixthly, I leave to my GRANDDAUGHTER ELLINOR STEVENSON 
my scarlet colored quilted petticoat. 
Seventhly, I leave to my GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER MARGARET 
CURLET of Glentraman five pounds. 
Eighthly, I leave my NIECE ISABEL SMITH a new bolster 
and an old feather bed whereon the servants lie, three 
old blankets and a coverlet wherein she lies herself, 
& should she be with me at my decease, it is my desire 
that she and her children shall remain with my executrix 
during her stay at Ballakillinghan. 
Ninthly, I bequeath to my SON QUAYLE CURGHEY a crown legacy. 
Tenthly and lastly, I nominate constitute and appoint 
my GRANDDAUGHTER JANE STEVENSON sole and whole executrix 
of all the rest of my goods moveable and immoveable 
whatsoever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed 
my name and affixed my Seal this 8th day of August 1754.

AT LEZAYRE JANUARY 17TH, 1756
the Revd THO. W. J. WOODS and EDWARD CHRISTIAN witness to 
the foregoing will have proved the same in form of law. 
Whereupon JANE STEVENSON the executrix is sworn for 
payment of debts and legacies, to which end she has 
given pledges, namely the Revd. Mr. Woods one of the 
witnesses of the will, and Capt Thomas Corlet of Glentraman. 

28TH MAY 1761
THIS DAY MARGARET CORLET DAUGHTER OF CAPT. THOMAS CORLET of 
Glentramman came to the Registry and acknowledged that she 
hath received from Mr. MATTHIAS TAGGART of Castletown 
HUSBAND OF MRS. JANE TAGGART OTHERWISE STEVENSON executrix 
of the last will and testament of the late Mrs. MARGARET 
CURGHEY OTHERWISE LOWCAY deceased, the full and just sum 
of five pounds currency of this Isle, being a legacy which 
was left and bequeathed to her the said Margaret Corlet 
by the said Mrs. Margaret Curghey her late great-grandmother, 
and doth hereby release, acquit and discharge the said 
Mr. Matthias & Mrs. Jane Taggart his wife their executors, 
administrators and assigns thereof forever..
