In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Gawn of Ballagawn in the parish of Trinity Rushen in consideration of the uncertainty of this mortal life; and to prevent such disputes as might otherwise happen after my decease, about my temporal concerns do make this my last will and testament in form and manner following. First I commend my soul to Almighty God that gave it and my body to Christian burial, hoping thro the merits of my blessed Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ to obtain a blessed resurrection to life eternal. Item I bequeath to my loving son and heir Thomas Gawn my whole crop, whether ( ) pasture the my part of the team all and every particular of the husbandy geers, the corn tier, the miln, the clock, the cheese press, all my boats, nets, straps, bouys, and whatever else appertains to the fishery, three choice pewter dishes, four chairs, six choice pewter plates, the brewing ( ) and ( ) stool, the brass pan that is in the kitchen, my bed suit of apparel with shoes stockings hat wig and linens as I go to church in my Sunday dress. The bed I lie on with all its furniture necessary to complete a furnished bed, half my stock of sheep, a choice cow, the cellar at ( ) of ten pence Lords rent, the cloathes press, the large looking glass and all my bees and bee hives, and likewise one part rent of the tenant's that shall be payable for the current year I die in. I bequeath all the rest of my apparel to my brother William's three sons viz Thomas, Edward and Henry Gawn. I bequeath to my daughter Margery Callow als Gawn all my right title and interest in and unto the mortgage of Balansgrangey in KK Malew together with the interest that shall be due and in ( ) there upon at my decease Item to my grandson Wm Callow forty shillings. Item To my grandson Edwd Callow forty shillings. Item to my granddaughter Elizth Callow three pounds. Item: To my grandaughter Margery Callow four pounds. Item: I bequeath to my grand daughter Elizabeth Qualtrough my part of the Chist - which my wife willed to her. Item: To my three grandson sons - Thomas and Edward Gawn, and Wm Qualtrough a guinea each. Item: I bequeath to the minister of parish for the time being ten shillings. Item: I bequeath to the poor of the parish thirty shillings. Item: To my housekeeper - ten shillings. Item: To the Parish Clerk three shillings. Lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my loving daughter Elizth Qualtrough als Gawn and my grandson Charles Killey joint executors of all the rest of my goods, chattels and effects moveable and immoveable whatsoever. In testimony hereof I have hereunto put my hand this 1st day of November AD one thousand seven hundred and forty four. Note: Before the signing hereof I acknowledged to have Charles Killey proportion of his grandmother's goods yet in my hand. Thomas Gawn The before going will was signed and acknowledged by the testator before us: Thos Stevenson Richard Tyldesley John Nelson Nicholas Christian At a Court of Correction, holden at Castletown, Feb 17 1752. Capt Richd Tyldesley and the Rev Nicholas Christian witnesses to the foregoing will have deposed on the Holy Evangelists that the testator Thos Gawn being in perfect mind and memory signed and declared the foregoing writing as his last will and testament in their presence This before us Ro: Radcliffe and Matths Curghey At a Consistory Court holden at Castletown June 10th 1757. Capt Thos Gawn having this day in open court surrender unto witnesses Willm Qualtrough and Charles Killey Executors of the last will and testament of Mr Thos Gawn late dead all his right to the several legacies and bequests left unto his right to the several legacies and bequests left unto him by said will. In consideration whereof the said Executors have allowed the said Capt Gawn an equal share in the executorship whereupon the said Qualtrough, Killey, and Gawn are sworn joint executors and are become pledges the one for the other for the payment of debts and other legacies according to Law.
