This is affirmed to be the last [Will and]
Testament of Richard Lawson of [the town]
Douglas who departed this life at [Douglas the]
first of April 1758.
First He committed his Soul to God and [his body]
to Christian burial.
He bequeathed to his son Richard all the [lands]
belonging to him on the north side of this Isl[and]
and declared that his said son sent him all [his]
Cloaths in order to take care of them and if the [sd ]
son was not to come home to receive them
He bequeathed them to his sons Parick and David
and he also left his son Richard five shills legacy.
He left to his sons John, Patrick and David all the con-
cerns belonging to him in the town of Douglass
and all his wearing apparel in order to be a help
to them for their Cloathing whilst they were in their
apprenticship.
He left to his youngest son David three pounds to
pay for a part of his prentice fee which was not
fully discharged.
He left to his beloved wife five shills Legacy.
He left to his Brother James Lawson a large auger
and an adze, and required that his said Brother and
David his Brother in law was to take care of the said
Children in order to see them rectifyd in their just rights.
Lastly he nominated and appointed his Daughter
Jony Lawson whole & sole Executrix of all the rest
of his Goods moveable and immoveable of what kind
or nature so ever.

[At a] Consistory Court holden in Douglas June 20 1758
Anthony Lawson husband of the exectrx is sworn in
Court in form of Law, hath given pledges for payment
of Debts, Legacies namely Wm Corkill & Adam
Calister as witnefses of the will
