31 Ramsey In the name of God, Amen. I EDWD CORLETT of the town of Ramsay, being sick in body but of perfect mind and memory, do make this mylast will and testament in manner and form following: First, I bequeath my soul to the Almighty God that gave it and my body to Christian burial. Item, I leave to my SON PETER one English crown legacy. Item, I leave to my SON EDWD son English crown legacy. Lastly, I nominate, appoint, and ordain my only DAUGHTER CATHRINE sole & whole Executrix of all the rest of my goods and chattels of what kind or nature soever and do appoint Mr EDWD ALLEN AND MR JOHN SAYLE to be guardians over my said children and my BROTHER IN LAW MR. WM SAYLE. And to the witnesses of this my last will one shilling each. In witness whereof I have caused my mark to be set to my name this 24th Decr 1758. Edwd Corlet my X. MR EDWD ALLEN ONE OF the Guardians named by the Testator having, this day, declined to accept of the Trust, and JOHN SAYLE being absent, Mr. WM SAYLE the other Guardian is sworn Supervisor of the orphans in form of Law. But whereas he apprehends it more beneficial for the orphan, who is named Executrix, to decline accepting the Execution of the Will, in regard he fear the xxxx would be to her prejudice, he xxx therefore prays xxxx time till our next May Court to Examine the extent of the Testator's debts and fortune, that he may be enabled to form some estimate of the same; which time is granted him, and the execution of the Will is suspended till then, and in the meantime he is to take a just Inventory of the goods and to sell the same at public auction to the best advantage, whereof a just account to be produced when required. AT A CONSISTORY COURT HELD AT LEZAYRE March 27th 1760: WILLAM SAYLE the supervisor appearing this day, and alleging that he has taken the survey mentioned in the preceding Act of Court, now declares he apprehends it will tend to the interest of his war CATH:CORLET to accept the executorship of the Testator. Whereupon WILLIAM SAYLE aforesaid is sworn well and truly to execute the last will and testament of the Testator as also to bring a perfect Inventory to the Registry and likewise for payment of debts and legacies, and has given pledges in form of law vizt, Edward Allen of Ramsey & John Gill wright of Lezayre. Examined per Math:Curghey Ar.Regr. At Lezayre June 25th 1759: The Claimant having proved the sum of three shillings and two pence, ordered that the sum be discharged sub poena juris with all fees. Matths:Curghey. RAMSEY JUNE 14TH 1759: JOHN CALLISTER enters a claim against the executor of EDWARD CORLET for the sum of £1:7:0 & craves the Law. Examined per Matth: Curghey Ar.Regr. At Lezayre June 25th 1759: The Claimant having proved that CATHRINE CORLET & her HUSBAND EDWD CORLET were indebted to him at the time of their deaths the sum of nineteen shillings and ten pence, ordered that the same be discharged by WM SAYLE the supervisor of the orphans of the decedent, sub poena juris with all fees. RAMSEY JUNE 25TH 1759: WILLIAM KERMOD in behalf of himself & his wife enters a claim against the executors of EDWARD CORLET for the sum of £2:0:0, and craves the Law. At Lezayre June 25th 1759: The Claimants having proved the sum of one pound sixteen shillings and nine pence due from the executors of CATHRINE & EDWD CORLET, ordered that WM SAYLE supervisor sworn pursuant to the wills of both the decedents, do discharge the same inproportion sub poena juris with all fees. At Lezayre June 25th 1759: ANN CALLOW having proved the sum of two shillings and nine pence, ordered that the same be discharged by WM SAYLE the supervisor of the ORPHANS OF EDWD. RAMSEY JULY 2ND 1759: HORNBY ROUGHSEDGE in behalf of ELIZTH ROUGHSEDGE enters a claim against the Executors of EDWARD CORLET for the sum of £80:0:0 British, and craves the Law. At Lezayre July 2nd 1759: Hornby Roughsedge in behalf of ELIZTH ROUGHSEDGE having proved the sum of sixty five pounds British, ordered that the same be discharged in proportion with other foreign Claimers, sub peona juris with all fees. At Lezayre July 16th 1759: The Claimer has proved the sum of fourteen shillings and five pence; acknowledge that he was indebted to the decedent for iron six shillings and six pence. RAMSEY JULY 27TH 1759: GEORGE ROBINSON enters a claim attains the Executors of EDWARD CORLET for the sum of £0:14:7-1/2, and craves the Law. Examined per Matth:Curghey Ar.Regr. At Lezayre July 27th 1759: The Claimer (of the profession they call Quakers) has solemnly affirmed that EDWARD CORLET AND HIS WIFE CATH: CORLET were indebted to him at the time of their Death the sum of fourteen shillings and seven pence half penny, ordered that the same be discharged according to Law sub poena juris with all fees. At Lezayre Augt 22d 1759: The Claimer having proved the sum of seventeen pounds, which also appears due by a promising note of the decedent's bearing date March 19th 1757, ordered that the same be discharged in proportion with other claimers, sub peona juris with all fees. At Lezayre April 25th 1760: The claimant having proved the sum of ten shillings and two pence British, ordered that the same be discharged according to law sub poena juris with all fees. AT LEZAYRE JULY 18TH 1760: WILLIAM SAYLE Executor in trust and supervisor of the orphans of EDWARD CORLET late of Ramsey having this day charged WILLIAM KILLIP of Lezayre for the sum of three shillings and six pence being price of the tithe said KILLIP recd on July 31st 1757, and for which he stand open in sd CORLET's books; and said Killip alleging that he returned the said tithe to said Edward Corlet, said William Sayle declared upon oath that said Killip begged time of him for the payment of said sum, for the tithe before mentioned, since the decease of said Edwd Corled (said Killip having referred it to his oath). Ordered therefore that said Killip do discharged the said sum of three shillings and six pence, sub poena commitment in St Germans, with all fees. Matths.Curghey. To the Sumner of Lezarye &c. RAMSEY, AUGUST 29TH 1760: JOHN PARKER in behalf of William Whaley of Liverpool in the County of Lancaster and Kingdom of Great Britain merchant, enters a claim against the Executors of EDWD CORLET for the sum of £25:7:8-3/4 British and craves the Law. At Lezayre Apr 5th 1760: John Parker in behalf of Whaley having proved the sum of twenty three pounds eighteen shillings British, ordered that the same be discharged in proportion with other foreign Claimers, sub peona juris with all fees. Recd from the Bearer Mr. Jon.Parker has claimed in behalf of Mr. Wm Whaley in Liverpool: I have given him Ed Corlett's acct current from the Book, if he fines the debt due him on the same as xxxx know the xand[?hand or land], I am satisfied to administer of his oath; whither he should have a power from his xxxx I leave to yourself.
