KK Marown -----------------------June 1st 1761 James Cottier of Ballagarey departed this Life on or about the 8th day of April last Intestate The Court upon Intelligence thereof Decrees his five children namely Willm, Thos, Paul, James & Ann Cottier sole & joint Admrs of all his Goods & Chattels moveable & imoveable what soever, Alexander another son having been provided for by Contract of marriage – Thos, Paul & James being abroad, Willm & Ann (John Creer sd Ann’s husband being sick & unable to attend the Court) are sworn to bring a perfect Inventory to the Registry as also for paymt of Debts, & have given pledges according to Law namely John Quilliam & Wm Kelly ???? both of KK Marown Solv: 3? Decretum est C:C Ro: Radcliffe At a Consistory Court holden at KK Michael Augt 11 1761 John Creer husband of Ann Cottier is now sworn one of the Admrs of James Cottier in form of Law – and has given pledges accordingly namely John Kewley junr of KK Marown & Robt Quirk of Douglas. It? testes Ja: Wilkes Ep Reg. 15th Aug 1761 The Revd John Christian enters a Claim agt the Admrs of Jas. Cottier For the Sum of ---------------------------------------------------- Br £7.0.0 2nd. 1761 Marown Articles of agreemt Covenanted Condition’d & Concluded Betwixt Mary Cottier als Christian wid. of Ballagary in [Marown] Being wife to Jas. Cottier of said place & parish, who is no??? on the one part, and her Son’s Wm & Alexd Cottier of the S??? & John Creer her Son in Law of KK Braddan for themselves ?? Behalf of their Brethren Thos, paul & Jas Cottier who are not ?? Isle or abroad on the other part as follow Primus; It is Conditioned agreed & Concluded upon ??? that the Mary Cottier wid:; Shall pay or cause to be paid unto her sd [Son] Alexd Cottier the Sum of one pound four Shillings & Sixpence upon Condition of Said Sum; he the Said Alexd Doth quit & ?? all his Right tytle or property that he has to the effects, of [his] Deceased father, Soly? Unto his aforesaid Brethren Wm, Thos Paul Jas Cottier & John Creer; Secondly It is Condition’d & agreed upon that they her Said Sons Wm ?? & John Creer for themselves & in behalf of their said Brethren ?? Thos Paul & Jas Cottier Do quit & Resign their Rights proper??? to the Crop which they are Intitled unto by the Decease of their father; Entirely unto said Mary Cottier their mother, upon [Condition] or ?? Regard to the Resignmt afforsaid given by said Alexd, to the h???? Brethren; and in Regard to said Conditions their said mother ?? quit & Resign her Dividend of the Legacy Due to her by her ?? Husband: unto her sd Sons Wm, Thos, Paul & Jas Cottier & Jon [Creer] To the true and faithfull performance of the articles ??? Conditions, above mentioned the sd parties have b?ind the ?? their heirs Exr & assigns in the penalty of [forfeiture] of sio??? to be Levy’d in the nature of all Fines pursuant to Law Witness our Subscription February ye 12th 1762 William Carin his X Mary Cottier her mk X Evan Corkan Alexd Cottier his mk X Wm Cottier his mk X John Creer his mk X At a Court of Correction holden at Ballahowin the 12th Febry 1762 Alexander Cottier, Willm Cottier & John Creer three of the Subscribing parties to the within Articles of agreemt having this day [appeared] before the Court acknowledged the said Articles of agreemt, to be their Voluntary act & Deed and William Carin & Evan Corkan the two Subscribing Witnesses to the Said Articles of agreemt having also this day deposed on the holy Evangelists that the sd Articles were duly Signed & executed by the within named Mary Cottier one of the parties thereto – the sd Articles of agreement are thereupon accepted of as the Inventory of James Cottier late Deceased Husband of the sd Mary Cottier.
