                Ramsey  
In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Cottier of the town of 
Ramsey, mariner, being at present designed to go abroad 
to try my Fortune and being apprehensive of the danger 
of the enemyes these troublesome times, as well as ye 
danger of the seas, do hereby nominate ordain & appoint 
this my last will and testament in manner and form following:  
First I committ my soul to ye Almighty God who gave it 
and my body to Christian burial.    
Item, I leave and bequeath to my brother John Christian 
one shilling leggassey; and also six pence apeice leggassey 
to every one that will offer to crave to break this my 
last will and testament.  
Lastly I nominate and apoint my dear and loving sister 
Ellinor Corkill als Christian sole Executrix of all the 
rest of my effects & goods of what nature or kind soever, 
wittness my mrk to my name this 8th Octobr 1747:  
Thomas Cottier my mrk X.
Wittness present: 
Hugh Martin junr:, 
Christoper Johnson X, 
Edmd Kneen senr.

At a Consitory Court holden at Lezayre Novr 20 -----[dark corner] 
Hugh Martin junr & Edmund Kneen senr two of the witnesses 
to the within Will have deposed on the holy Evangelists ----[dark corner] 
the Testr Thomas Cottier mariner who had a blemish on his leg -----[dark corner] 
being of sound & disposing mind & memory declares -----[dark corner] 
within writing as his last Will & Testamt on their -----[dark corner] 
& that they know of no other Will made by sd Testator ----- 
the contrary hereof;  whereupon the Court Decrees ---- 
the validity thereof, and John Corlet husband of Ellinor 
Corkill als Christian the Execrx named is sworn well & 
truly to execute the last will & testamt of the sd Thos: 
Cottier, & has given pledges for payment of debts & 
legacies according to Law, namely Hugh Martin & Edmd 
Kneen the witnesses of the will.
