52    Rushen, 1763
The last will and testament of Margery Rade 
of Soroby, who departed this life about the 
4th of March 1763. 
Imprimis, she commended her soul to Almighty God 
and her body to Christian burial. 
Item, she bequeathed to John Carine’s daughter 
namely Margaret a cow. 
Item, she bequeathed to John Christian’s 
daughter namely Margaret a blue gown and 
the little wheel. 
Item, she bequeathed to Anne Christian 
als Bell a gown and petticoat. 
Item, she bequeathed to John Christian 
five shillings. 
Item, she bequeathed to Patrick & Isabel 
Carine children to John Carine a foresaid 
a heifer between them both. 
Item, she bequeathed all the rest of her 
clothes linen and woolen between the 
aforesaid children namely Margaret & 
Isabel Carine. 
Lastly, she nominated, constituted and 
appointed Margery Carine als Bell sole 
Executrix of all the rest of her goods 
moveable and immoveable. 
Witnesses: 
Isabel Mylrea als Shimmin, 
Jane Mylcreest. 

At a Chapter Court holden 
in Castletown 8th June 1763
John Carine husband of the Executrix is 
sworn in Court in form of Law and hath 
given pledges for the payment of debts 
and legacies, namely William Taggart & 
Joseph Qualtrough both of Rushen
