This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of 
JOHN CANNON of Ballanay within the parish of KK Michl, 
who departed this life on or abt the 26th day of April 
1767, being of sound & disposing mind & memory at the 
making thereof.  
First he committed his soul to God and body to 
Christian burial.  
He left and bequeathed unto his STEPFATHER one of his 
best pair of breeches. He left unto his STEPBROTHER WM 
CHRISTIAN his second best coat, and a red waist coat.  
He left unto his other STEPBROTHER NAMELY THOS. CHRISTIAN 
a shee lamb, or he one, in case there was no she ones.  
He bequeath'd unto his SISTER JANE CANNON the sum of twenty shillings.  
He left & bequeathed unto his SON & HEIR NAMELY JOHN 
CANNON, his half of the crop, & a plow beast, & in case 
his sd son died, that then this bequest to descent to 
his next SON NAMELY WM CANNON.  
He also left and bequeathed unto his sd SON WILLIAM the 
sum of five pounds, to be paid him by his oldest son & heir.  
Lastly, He nominated appointed and ordained his loving 
WIFE whole and sole Execrx of all the rest of his goods 
and effects moveable and immoveable of what kind soever 
as also the use benefit and profit of the lands till the 
children were 1x years old, debarring any other person 
or persons craving a right to his goods with six pence 
legacy & six pence legacy to the witnesses of this his will.  
He requested that his BROTHER IN LAW ROBERT CREER  HIS 
SISTER JANE CANNON would take the burthen of the 
guardianship of the children.

              maii anno domini 1767 
The execrx xxxx indisposition being unable to attend the 
Court the Ep:Regr is impowered to administer the usual 
oath & take upp pledges as also to swear the guardians.

MAY 28, 1767
PURSUANT TO THE ABOVE Power I attended at the House of 
ISABEL CANNON relict & Execr of the Testator & administered 
unto her the usual oath well and truly to fulfil the last 
will and testament of JOHN CANNON her late decd husband 
to pay his just debts and legacies as far as the goods 
will extend and the Law shall bind, to which end she gave 
pledges in form of Law namely Danl Caine of KK Michael 
and ROBT CREER one of the guardians, the sd ROBT CREER 
& JANE CANNON were also sworn guardians of the Testator's 
CHILDREN in form of Law, by me, Ja: Wilks Ep:Regr.                           

EXPENDED BY ISABEL CANNON exrx of the last will and testament 
of JOHN CANNON of Ballanay in procuring the one half of the 
crop for the use of his son, the succeeding heir, as appointed[?], 
& directed in his sd will:    
To 32 reapers at 8d   £1 : 1 : 4    
To herding, left to ye discretion of the Court.

The above was returned to the Registry by ISABEL CANNON 
THE WIDOW & excrx & by ROBT CREER one of the guardians.

I WILLIAM CANNON SON of the within Testator JOHN CANNON 
do hereby acknowledge to have recd & to be fully paid the 
sum of five pounds a legacy bequeathed me by the last 
will of my sd FATHER JOHN CANNON, & I do hereby release 
acquit exonerate & discharge my BROTHER JOHN CANNON of 
all & every part of sd legacy of five pounds as witness 
my mark to my name this 1st Jany 1791, 
Wm Cannon his mark X.
