52    Santon
The last will and testament of Thomas Oates of the parish 
of KK Santon, he being at perfect mind and memory at the 
making thereof. 
First he committed his soul to God and his body to a Christian burial. 
Item, he left to his children namely Robert, Anne, Isabel, 
and Mary Oates six pence each as legacy. 
Item, he left Ann Shimmin & his son James Oates yarn that 
was in the kitchen equally between them. 
Lastly, he nominated constituted and appointed his son 
James whole and sole executor of all the rest of his goods 
movable and immovable, debarring all other friends and 
relations of with six pence legacy that claims any right. 
Witnesses: 
Thomas Quinney, 
Ann Shimmin. 

At a Chapter Court holden in 
Castletown 9th November 1768, 
the executor is sworn in Court in form of law and hath 
given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies 
namely Robert Cowle of Santan, and Thomas Quinney of 
Malew, one of the Witnesses
