To the Revd Messrs James Wilks & John Moore Vicars
	Genl in this Isle Farger
The humble Petition of Simon^& Margt, his wife of
	the Parish of Kirk Lonan
Sheweth
That your Petr Margt is Daughter of Danl Cos
tean in the sd Parish lately deceased, which he had by Margt:
Costean als Fayle his former wife, who died on or about the
year 1741 making her Will & Testament, she devised her
part of the Lands purchased from her Brother in Law
to her eldest son William; and to her other Son Daniel
she devised & bequeathed to her the Lands whcih was
purchased of John Quark, both of which sd Lands were
to come to her sd Sons upon the deminse of her Husband.
That her sd Son William died within three months
after herself, being then only about seven years of age;
whereof your Petrs find no notice taken of Administraion
granted the nest of Kin, for any Right for the future
falling to him at his Fathers death, who during his Life
^time had the whole benefit of the sd Lands. --
That the father Danl Costean died in July 1767 whereby
the right of the Lands now devolve upon Danl, the Son as Heir
at Law to his Brother Wm Costean & whereas this Danl
Costean is non compos mentis or an Ideot consequently incapa
ble of managing his own affairs much less looking after any
Right falling to him, that he would require some person as
Guardian or Supervisor appointed over him to ^ take the management
& superintendency of his Affairs, for he is in a manner an
object of charity , & a great incumbrance on yr Petrs to keep
him ^in such suitable Condition as their ability can afford
Your Petrs most humbly pray yr Revces would be
pleas’d to grant Administration of the Goods & Effects
of the sd Wm Costean at such time & place & in
such manner as yr Revces shall judge meet
& that proper Persons may be appointed Guardians
of the sd Ideot to manage his Concerns & to see
right & Justice done to him in his Estate as far as
he is entitled thereto, & human clemency dictates
& yr Petrs as in Duty bound
				    shall ever pray &c
