In the name of God Amen.
I Thomas Gawn of Ballagawn in the parish of Trinity Rushen being infirm in
body but of sound mind and memory do make this my will and testament in
manner and form following:
First I commend my soul to the mercy of Almighty God through the merits of
Jesus Christ our Lord and my body to Christian burial at the discretion of
my executor hereafter nominated and appointed.
Item:  I bequeath to my step daughter Catharine Geniste als Robinson twenty
pounds and to her daughter Elizabeth Geniste ten pounds.
Item: I bequeath to my sister Margery ten pounds.
Item I bequeath toward the instruction of poor people children ten shillings
by the year, to be paid to the minister and wardens one very Easter Monday
out of the tithes of Ballagawn to that end and purpose.
Item: I bequeath to a school-mistress in the parish ten shillings by the
year to be paid after the manner above mentioned and she to teach two poor
peoplešs children gratis.
Item:  I bequeath to the poor objects of the parish three pounds to be paid
and distributed immediately after my decease.
Item:  I bequeath to my domestic servants half a guinea each immediately
after my decease.
Item: I bequeath and settle the little inn at Renwillin and the tithes of
Ballagawn that were purchased by me, to pass hereafter in nature of
inheritance with the estate of Ballagawn paying yearly and every year as
above mentioned.
Item:  I bequeath a guinea to the minister of the parish all my wearing
apparel among my laboring tenants except my best suit.
Lastly I nominate, constitute, and appoint my loving and only son Edward
Gawn sole executor of all the rest of my goods chattels and effects moveable
and immovable

At a Court of Correction holden at Castletown Feb 1777.
The executor is sworn in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the
payment of debts and legacies namely Wm Qualtrough Junior and ----- Clucas
both of Rushen
Probatum est   Ja:Wilks, John:Moore, ThosCubbon.

Jun 23d Cath Geneste enters a claim against the executor of Thos Gawn for
the sum of 10 pounds 10 British and craves the law.
