56 Ballaugh 1778 This is [affirmed] by the following Witnesses to be the Last Will and Testament of John Craine of the Dollaugh beg in the Parish of Ballaugh who departed this Life on or about the begin= -ning of February last past -- Made in the year of our Lord 1776 -- being of perfect mind & memory at the making thereof in - manner following – First He bequeathed and left to his son Thomas a Bowle of Barley, a Feather Bed & Bolster whereon he lay & the Blanket & Coverlet belonging to said Bed & also his holy Day apparel Item – He left a Firlet of Barley to his Daugh[-] ter Isabel Philip Crains wife – Item He left to his Daughter Margaret the sum of Ten shillings – Item To his son John and to his Grandson John son of his said Son John all his part of the sheep jointly between them – Item He left the sum of Three Pounds to his Daughter Alice also the Bedstead whereon he lay which he called the [Crush?] & left his sd son John Supervisor or Guardian of his sd Daughter Alice – Item he left sixpence to each Claimer & one shilling each to the Witnesses of his Will – And Lastly He Nominated Constituted and appointed his sd son John sole & whole Executor of all the rest of his Goods & Effects whatsoever ----- [W]itnesses James Corlet my X mk |_ Jurati Wm Corlet my X mk | [previous page] Liber??? 1778. Reg. [first following page] At a Chapter Court holden at KK Michael May 21st The Execr is sworn in Court in form of Law hath given Pledges for the payment of Legacies namely James Corlett & Wm [Corlett] the Witnesses Probatum est Joh: ??? Solvit Ev? Christian Thos Cubbon April 29th 1779 John Oates enters a Claim agst the Excrs of John Craine for the sum of £15 – 0 – 0???? [second following page] Whereas John Crain of Dollaugh by [Dept?] by his Last Will & Testa[ment] bequeath unto his Son John & John’s Grandson John Son of his sd son John all his part of the Sheep jointly between them, I the the sd John Craine Grandson of the Testator, do hereby acknow[-] ledge to have recd my share of the Sheep bequeathed my by my sd Grandfather & do release acquit exonerate and discharge the heir of the Last Will & Testamt of my said Grandfather John Crain of all demands on acct of sd Sheep Witnefs my hand this 20th June 1792.
