The last Will and Testament of Catharine Sayle of
the parish of  KK Andreas as she expressed the same ...
Saturday the 10th of January 1770 and this committed to wri=
ting at the Declaring thereof she being then of sound
mind and memory in the appearance of the witnesses at the
declaration thereof.
First she committed her Soul to god and her body to Christian
burial. Item: she left and bequeathed to her niece Esther
Radcliffe the sum of three pounds with the sum of money which
is in the hands of Robert Cannel and her feather bed as the 
same is with clothes. Item: she left to Wm Kneale the sum
of ten shillings. Item: She left to Margaret Kneale
the sum of ten shillings. Item: She left the roof of the
house wherein she had dwelt to Joney Kneale widow.
Item: she left and bequeathed to her niece Christian wife of
Thomas corkill the sum of ten shillings and all which
was in her hands. Item: She left to Joney the wife of her
brother William Sayle, two little chifts, a firkin and a 
basket, a jug and a crock. With a new hadkerchief.
Item: She left & bequeathed to her brother William Sayle
two handkerchiefs and her shoes and a piece of fine linnen
and a piece of course linnen. She further left forty shil=
lings to be in the hands of her nephew Wm Radcliffe and
Thos Sayle of the Craig to be expended on clothes for her
aforesd brother as they would think fit and see necessary

to Thos Sayles wife. Item she left five shillings

apiece to John Radcliffes wife and Joney Sayle ...
five shillings apiece to Margaret Radcliffe & Ann Radcliffe
daughters of John Radcliffe aforesd and twenty shillings more to the
aforesd Joney Radcliffe if she would come to take care of her.
Item: She left to her nephew William Radcliffe the sum of
twenty shillings and ten shillings to his son Wm Radcliffe.
Item: She left to Joney the daughter of her said nephew Wm
Radcliffe a gown & a cloak and to his daughter Margt a
linnen handkerchief and to Ann his daughter a piece of 
white fledden. Item: She left two guineas to her said nephew
Wm Radcliffe for to serve her to the grave or make her
funeral charges. Item: she left her best petty or waiscoat
and one of her best smocks and a piece of fledden for a petti=
coat to Joney Sayle her brothers wife and a piece of fledden
to William Sayle her brother for a petty.
Item: she left six pence a peice legacy to every one that
would crave in order to break this her last Will and Testament
Item: She left to the witnesses of this her Will ... pence a peice.
Lastly She nominated and appointed her niece
Joney the wife of Thos Kneale sole Executrix of all the 
rest of her goods and effects moveable & imoveable whatsoever

At a Consistory Court holden at Douglas August .......

    The validity of the foregoing Will of Catherine Sayle of
the parish of KK Andreas having been .... to .... by
Wm. Sayle (of West Caigue in the said parish) at Consistory Court
holden at KK Michael on Thursday the 26th day of March last
past, he the said Wm Sayle who is one of the next of kin of the
sd decd Cath: Sayle having agreed that Thos Kneale husband
of Joney Kneale the therein named shall undertake the
burden of execution thereof as by article of agreement dated the
29th day of Janry 1778, duly attached & herunto annexed appear,
and whereas the said Wm Sayle hath now appeared in Court
& repeated his consent to the sd Thos Kneale undertaking the burden
of Edecutor of the sd Will, and that Thos: Corkill the only other
person who is of equal degree of kindred with the sd Wm Sayle
to the decd hath not appeared to object to the validity of 
the sd Will tho he was equally charged to appear to make his
objection (if any he had to make) to the sd Will
the same is therefore accepted and for the last Will & Testament of ye sd Cath; Sayle
& that the
sd Thos Kneale is thereupon sworn Excr of the sd Will in
form of laws & hath given pledges for the payment of
debts & legacies namely Wm Radcliffe of KK Andreas &
John Quirk of Douglas
