The last will and testament of Daniel Cormode 
of KK Andreas who departed this life on the 
15th Day of February 1784, being of perfect 
mind and memory at the making thereof.  
First he committed his soul to God and body 
to Christian burial.  Item, he left to his 
daughter Margaret Cormode his best bedclothes 
vizt., a coverlet, blanket & sheet, which was 
to be chosen for her by her sister Joney Cormode.  
Item, he left to his said Daughter Margaret 
four or five sheep which were named on herself 
with half of his flax and tow, and a chest 
which was in the side of the house.  
Item, he left to his daughter Joney Cormode 
the blanket that was on the cradle, with a 
choice cow to be chosen by herself.  
Item, he left to his son in law William Quark 
half of his hemp, and as much of the cloth 
which was in the house as would make him a 
pair of breetches.  
Item, he left to his son in law Philip Fargher 
as much of the same cloth as would make him a 
pair of breetches.  
Item, he left to his son John Cormode as much 
as would make him a pair of breetches of the 
same cloth, with an ewe yearling sheep.  
Item, he left to Mary Corlet two kishans of barley.  
Item, he left to John Kneal of the Bridge two 
pairs of his wearing breetches and the best 
one of his wearing petties.  
Item, he left the crop which was in the Haggard, 
with as much thereof as was then in the house 
to his sons namely John & Daniel Cormode, 
and to his two daughters namely Margaret and 
Joney Cormode equally betwixt them.  
Item, he left to his said four children namely 
John, Daniel, Margaret & Joney Cormode his right
to his limed lands in Ballacunner’s Land & 
Thomas Kinread’s Land equally betwixt them, 
and if any of his said children should go away 
and leave the rest, that then such one was not 
to have any of the said limed premises.  And 
that if his said daughter Joney should go away 
and leave the rest of his said children and 
give a quarter of the limed ground in her 
own Croft for three or four crops to his said 
Son Daniel; that then she was to have an equal 
share with the rest of his said children in 
the said limed premise in Ballacunner’s Lane & 
Thomas Kinread’s Land.  Lastly, he nominated 
and appointed his foresaid son Daniel Cormode 
sole sole Executor of all the rest of his goods 
moveable and immoveable whatsoever.  
To the witnesses of this will he left 
fourteen pence each.

At a Christory Court holden at KK Michael 
the 18th of March 1778: 
The Executor is sworn in Court in form of Law 
and hath given pledges for payment of debts and 
legacies namely the witnesses of the will.
