In the name of God Amen.
I Jane Cowen als Taggart of the town of Douglas widow being infirm in
body but of perfect mind and sound memory do make this my last will
and testament in manner following.
I commit my soul to God and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent
manner.
I leave and devise to my son Thos Cowen one half of the old house and the
whole shed and half the garden and yard there unto belonging and
adjoining and also a feather bed sheet blanket and coverlet and bolster.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Isabel Cowen of Liverpool sum of ten
pounds.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Jane Looney als Cowen the wife of Thos
Looney of KK Conchan the sum of six pounds.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Cowen the sum of fourteen
pounds to be paid her by my executor when she arrives to the age of twenty
one years and also a green gown and quilted petticoat.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Ellinor Curphey als Cowen the sum
of ten shillings and six pence British.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Ann Cowen the house wherein I now live
with the yard and garden there unto adjoining and she is to pay six pounds
to her brother Edward Cowen.
I leave and bequeath to Robert Schoffield the sum of one pound one
shilling British.
And lastly I nominate and appoint my daughter Ann Cowen whole and sole
executor residuary legatee of all and singular my goods and effects moveable
and immoveable of what kind nature or denomination soever as witness my mark
to my name this 14th December 1786.
