The humble petition of Wm
Kermode of this parish of KK
Maughold

Humbly Sheweth
That Petr’s Father in Law
namely Robert Creer of sd Parish
departed this life abt fourteen days
ago, and previous to his demise, made
his last will and Testament, and among
many other things appointed Petr
his Ex’r – That there are many persons
indebted to the Dec’d, and also Lands
to be Cultivated, which said Debts Petr
cannot recover or properly till such
Lands until he is sworn Ex’r

Wherefore Pet’r humble begs
Your Rev’d to take his case
to your Judicious & Tender
consideration and to grant 
authority to charge the Witnesses as
of Sd Will and the next of kin
to the Dec’d to your next Consistory
Court, and trust Petr may there
be sworn Ex’r to take the Burden
of sd Will in form of Law; with
granted Pet’r shall pray ????

Ordered that the matter of the 
beforegoing Petition do come to be heard at a 
Consistory Court to be holden at KK Michael
on Thursday next whereof all proper parties
and witnesses to have legal Notice & Service
Given at Ramsey 24th November 1786

The Last Will & Testament of Robt
Creer of Kirk Maughold made this 11 Nov (?)
1786 being of perfect mind & sound memory
at the making thereof.
First he committed his Soul to God & Body to Christian Burial
2dly He committed all his worldly Effects moveable & immoveable
to his son in law William Kermode & the Testators daughter
wife of sd Kermode
3rdly He left six pence to his son Robt Creer
4 thly And lastly he nominated, Constituted and appointed the said
William Kermode and wife Sole Ex’r of all and Every his Effects
of what nature soever. He excluded all claimers with 6 pence
legacy.

At a Consistory Court holden
at Kirk Michael 30th November 1786
Notwithstanding the will is proved
but by one witness only yet as no objection
has been offered thereto the sd William Kermode is
sworn Exor in court in form of Law and
hath given pledges for the payment of
Debts & Legacies namely Chas Callow
of KK Maughold & Ewan Corkill one
of the witnesses		Probatum Est

By vertue of a preference granted to the petition of William Kermode by
the Rev’d Vicar General Christian I lawfully charge John Creer
William Creer and Isable Creer as defendants and E Corkill & John Bridson
as witnesses all of KK Maughold to appear at KK Michael at a Consi-
story Court on Thurs 30th and to answer the suit of sd William Kermode
