Douglas In the Name of God, Amen I James Lawson & Catherine Lawson als Kelly my wife both of the town of Douglas being weak of body but of perfect mind & memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to Die, do make and appoint this our last Joint will & testament first, Recommending our souls to God who gave them & our Bodies to decent and Christian Burial in hopes of Glorious Resurrection and as for what wordly good it hath pleased God to bless us with we do leave and bequeath in manner and form following. First we leave and Bequeath unto our Elder son Edwd Lawson all our dwelling house workhouse & garden thereunto belong= -ing unto our Sd Son at the decease of the Longer liver of us also we do leave unto our Sd Son Edwd all the working tools on the premifses to be by him pofsesed at the decease of the Longer liver of us 2ndly we do also leave unto our Daughter Ann Lawson als Callow the one half of a dwelling house which we purchased of Mr Paul Kelly to be posefsed by her at the decease of the Longer liver of us, but if in case that the Sd Ann Lawson als Callow is to die without ifsue the Sd house is to Return to Catherine Cool our Grand-daughter to be posefsed by her at the decease of the aforesaid Ann Lawson als Callow 3rdly we do leave and Bequeath unto our Daughter Jane Cool als Lawson the other half of the dwelling house which we pur- =chased of Mr Paul Kelly to be posefsed by her at the decease of the Longer liver of us. 4thly we do leave & Bequeath unto our Daughter Catherine Sayle als Lawson Ten pounds manks to be also posefsed by her at the decease of the Longer liver of us. 5thly we do also leave & Bequeath unto our Son James Lawson Ten pounds manks to be posefsed by him at the decease of the Longer liver of us. 6thly we do Leave & Bequeath unto our Daughter Judy Rofcoe als Lawson the sum of Ten pounds manks to be posefsed by her at the Decease of the Longer Liver of us. 7thly we do Likewise Leave & Bequeath unto our Grand-daughter Catherine Cool five pounds manks and to be left in the hands of her uncle James Lawson untill such time as he shall see that she hast need of it. Lastly we leave unto any person or persons Claiming five Shillings Legacy hereby Nominating constituting & appointing our Son James Lawson and our daughter Ann Lawson als Callow whole and sole Execs affirming this only our last Will &Testament in witness whereof we have put our Marks to our Names. This 13th day of March one Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Nine 1789. The above will being read in our hearing & Published & Declared by the Testator to be their Last Will & Testament we witnefs the Same. They the said James Lawson & Danl Callow promifsing and obliging themselfes jointly & severally to supply me with sufficient meat drink washing lodging and clothing during my natural life. For the true perfomance of wch the said Catherine Lawson & they the said Jas Lawson & Danl Callow do bind each other in the penalty of Twenty pounds. In wittness whereof each party here put their mark to their names or subscribed their names this 28 August 1790 Signed & deliverd in Catherine Lawson als prefence of Kelley my mark X John Stowell Patrick Caralagh At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas 12th Octr 1790 John Stowell and Parick Caralagh the witnesses to the beforegoing Deed of settlement deposed on the Holy Evangelists that Cahterine Lawson als Kelly the subscribing party duly executed the same in their presence. Before us John Moore Cv Christian James Lawson, Probate October 1790 At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas on the 12th day of October 1790 James Lawson one of the Testators having departed this life James Lawson his Son and Daniel Callow son in law of the testator are in virtue of a Deed of Settlement granted unto them by Catherine Lawson als Kelley Widow of the said decedant and hereunto annexed sworn Exors in Court in form of Law and have given pledges for the payment of debts & Legacies namely Wm John Starvell & Patrick Canalagh both of the Town of Douglas Probatum est Joh Moore Ev Christian

Recd from Danl Callow & James Lawson the sum of ten pounds manks in full or all demand, being money left to my wife Cathne by her Father & Mother James & Cathne Lawson and which is in the Spiritual Book as winness my mark to my name this 14th Janry 1796 Witness Presant His Danl Christian William Seale X Edwd Christian mark Douglas 14 Jan 1796 Wm Seale acknowledge the foregoing receipt and discharge to be his proper act Before me Wm Cosnahan Catherine Cooil, Receipt Catherine Cooil a Legatee named in the last Will & Testamt of James Lawson & Cath Lawson both decd acknowledges to have received from James Lawson & Danl Callow the Exors of the sd Cath Lawson who was the Ecorx of the said James Lawson the sum of Five pounds being a legacy left unto her in & by the sd will & hereby exonerates acquits & discharges the sd Exors their Exors Admons & afsigns of the same & every part thereof As Witnefs her hand this 4th day of June 1800 Before me Catherine Cool Wm Kewley D.Ep.Reg Edward Roscoe, Receipt Liverpool 28th Augst 1797 Recv from Mr James Lawson by the hands of Capt.
