In the Name of God Amen I Margaret Creer late of
Douglas, but now of the parish of Marown, being weak in body
but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God: calling
unto mind the mortality of my body, do make and ordain this my
last Will and Testament; that is to say principally and first of
all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of almighty
God, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent
Christian burial – And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it
has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give and dispose of the
same in the following manner and form:
I Bequeath to Jane Cain of Douglas the widow of Robt. Cain
my Crown Gown, a blue quilted petticoat, a piece of linnen and
woollen Shiff of about four or five yards, and a pair of tow cards.
I Bequeath to Margaret Cain the daughter of the said
Jane Cain my worst red silk handkerchief, and a blue & white linen
and woollen petticoat.
I Bequeath to Richard Maley's wife of said Town
a pot of crock and a stool which I lent her some time ago.
I leave to Margaret Kelly the daughter of my uncle,
James Kelly of the said parish of Marown my worst pair of stays &
a striped blue and white linnen gown.
I Bequeath to Catharine Crellin of the said Town
of Douglas my second best checkquered apron.
I leave and bequeath to Margaret Creer my Brother
John Creer's daughter my manks stamped linen gown, my best
Stays, a red cloak, a silk hat and a spinning wheel.
I Bequeath to my brother Wm. Creer and my sister [Eleanor]
Kewley als. Creer (the wife of Patrick Kewley) the sum [of]
Five Shillings manks each.
I Bequeath to Ann Creer my sister in law the [remaining]
part of my apparel unqueathed.
Lastly I constitute, make and ordain my brother John Creer [of]
said parish of Marown sole and whole Executor of the [residuum of]
my effects movable and immovable, and also of all my Cash
Bonds and Credits be the same of what nature so ever, ??
ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and
Testament, In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my mark
and my name this 24th day of March 1791
