Articles of Marriage concluded and agreed upon by and between Margery
Cottier als Watterson of the Rowany in the parish of Trinity Rushen in
the behalf of her son Michael Cottier on the one part and Cath Carran als
Watterson of the aforsd parish in the behalf of her daughter Ellinor
Carran on the other part as hereafter follows:
First It is agreed upon by and between the said parties that the said
Michael Cottier and Ellinor Carran shall enter into the Holy Estate of
Matrimony within one month after the date hereof God and Holy Church
permitting the same.
Secondly It is hereby concluded and agreed upon by and between the said
parties that the said Margery Cottier do hereby settle and give unto her
said son a feather bed and bedding and all her goods after her death except
her weaving apparel.
Thirdly And for the true and faithful performance hereof we the said parties
do hereby bind and oblige ourselves our heirs exors admors and assigns in
and under the penalty and forfeiture of one hundred pounds to be levied and
paid according to law as witness our names and marks this the 25th June
1786.

6 Aug 1791 - Michael Cottier one of the executing parties to the within
Marriage Articles acknowledges the same to be his proper act and deed and
Thomas Cottier and Thomas Carran the witnesses to the execution thereof
deposed on the Holy Evangelists that Marjery Cottier duly signed and
executed the same in their presence.  Before Me  Norris Moore

At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown June 14 1792.
The within Articles of Marriage having been lawfully proved the same is
accepted as and for the last will and testament of Marjery Cottier the
donor, Michael Cottier the donee is sworn executor in court in form of
law and hath given pledges for payment of debts namely Ewan Qualtrough and
John Keigg both of Rushen
              Probatum est  Ev Christian and Wm Clucas
