In the name of God Amen.
I Edward Curphey of the town of Douglas (Mason) being infirm and weak
in bodily health but of sound and disposing memory at the making hereof
do make and appoint  this my last will and testament in manner and form
following:
First I commit my soul to Almighty God who gave it and my body to a decent
and Christian burial.
I leave and bequeath unto my four children namely Edward, Jane,
Catherine, and Elinor, all my part of the house wherein I now dwelleth in
said town of Douglas equally between them.  And if my son Edward
before mentioned comes in as heir at law to the other part of said house
that then he is to received no portion or dividend of my before mentioned
part.  And if my said son did and either of my before mentioned daughters
comes in as heiress that then she is to receive no part with the
remaining children.
And if any of the other children died that then in that case that childs
part comes equally between the surviving children, proved nevertheless that
my beloved wife Elinor Curphey als Cowin is to received the whole benefit of
the before mentioned house upon account of rearing said children until said
children arrive at the age of twenty one years.  And likewise if my said
wife come to want or necessity upon account of
rearing my said children that then she is at full liberty to dispose of the
children's part of the said house according to her discretion:  provided
she shall first dispose of her own part or inheritance and that be found
insufficient for the rearing of said children.
I likewise leave six pence a piece legacy to any person or persons that
can or may claim any just right or title to this my said will.
Lastly I leave unto my before mentioned wife Elinor Curphey all the
moneys that is in the house hereby nominated and appointing her whole
and sole executrix of all the remainder of my effects moveable and immoveble
be they of whatsoever kind or denomination
And this I declare my last will and testament this 22nd of Jun 1793.
