8     Braddan
In the name of God, amen. I Richard Oates of Ah-ny-curr in the parish 
of KK Braddan with the joint consent of Elizabeth Oates als Cubon my 
wife, calling to mind the uncertainties of this mortal life and being 
of sound and disposing mind and memory at the making hereof, do make 
and appoint this our last will and testament jointly in manner and 
form following. 
First, we commit our souls to God who gave them and our bodies to a 
decent and Christian burial. 
We leave and bequeath to our son Edward the kitchen table and frame, 
the furrum or seat, the four best or choice chairs, as likewise the 
sum of five pounds, likewise half the crop that shall be upon our 
premises of Ah-ny-curr lands at the decease of the survivor or longer 
liver of us. 
We likewise leave unto our son Richard now abroad the sum of five pounds. 
We likewise leave unto our son John now abroad the sum of five pounds. 
We likewise leave unto our son William the sum of five pounds. 
We likewise leave unto our daughter Elizabeth the sum of five pounds. 
Likewise, we leave six pence apiece legacy to any person or persons 
that may or can claim any just right or title to this our said will, 
provided nevertheless that neither of the before mentioned legacies are 
to be paid till after the decease of the survivor or longer liver of us. 
Lastly, we the aforesaid Richard Oates and Elizabeth my wife do nominate 
and appoint the survivor or longer liver of us whole and sole 
executor of all the remainder of our effects moveable and immoveable 
of what kind or nature soever. And this we declare to be our last 
will and testament jointly in the presence of the subscribing 
witnesses this 10th day of November 1792.

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas June xx, 1793, 
Richard Oates one of the testators having departed this life, 
Elizabeth Oates the survivor is sworn executrix in Court in 
form of Law & hath given pledges for payment of debts and 
legacies namely the witnesses of the will.
