1795 LEZ MARGARET GARRET als CHRISTIAN MM:GL727 A 82 010 6232 In the name of God Ammen I Margaret Garret als Christian widow of the parish of KK Christ Lezaire, being in good health, but of sound and disposing mind and memory praised be God do for avoiding controversies after my decease make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following ---------- I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to a Christian burial, and as for such worldly goods that God has been pleased to bless me with I bequeath and dispose these of as followed that’s to say I leave and bequeath to my sister in law Elizabeth Christian als Corlet Widow, of the dec’d John Christian of the Curragh in the parish of kk Lezaire whatever cash her husband John Christian aforesd. [Rec’d] from me in his lifetime or is due to me from him as legacy provided that she leaves and bequeathes the aforesd. legacies to her two daughters Ann and Mary that’s to say that Mary’s part of the legacy after her decease to fall to her issue and for want of issue to fall to her sister Ann aforesd.-------- I leave and bequeath to my nephew John Christian a large [Bi*****] [pair] of Silver plated spoon’s and a horse whip as these articles were in custody of his father in his lifetime and to fall and descend as inheritance forever as legacy.----------- I leave and bequeath to my niece Margaret Lace two guineas and a blue stuff gown as legacy. I leave and bequeath to my niece Jane Radcliffe one guinea and also a large [Tin] Chist whilst she lives and after her decease to fall and descend as inheritance. I leave and bequeath to my niece Catherine Killip one [***sian’s] interest of a bill of mortgage that I obtained from her husband Wm Killip to be paid at the expiration of one year after my decease as legacy. Item I further leave and bequest to my niece Catherine Killip a pair of silver buckles as legacy. Item I further leave and bequeath to my niece’s Ann Christian and Mary Christian one guinea each as legacy. Item I leave and bequeath to my niece Isabel Quayle [one] Guinea as legacy. Item I leave and bequeath to the Rev’d (unable to read his name) wife, of Lezaire my best cotton gown, a flower [l***] and a little book called the [weekes] preparation as legacy. Item I leave and bequeath to Mr John Curlet of the [town] of Ramsey [M***ch] a silver [seal] and to his wife [m*] two silver table spoons as legacy. Item I leave and bequeath to my brother Rob’t [Callister] one guinea as legacy. Item I leave and bequeath to Miss Margaret Curlet daughter to Mr Jon Curlet of the town of Ramsey my [Tea] Chist] as legacy. Item I leave and bequeath to the poor of the town of Ramsey Five pounds British to be put out to interest by [the] Chaplain and warden’s of the town and the yearly [interest] out of the aforesd. Sum to be distributed when ever it [be] ________ item I leave and bequeath to my nephew John Christian’s wife one quinea as legacy Item I leave and bequeath to my nieces son^ son to Jane Radcliffe my bible common prayer book and a walking cane as legacy. Item I leave and bequeath to Isabel Davies of the town of Ramsey five shillings British as legacy. Item I leave and bequeath to my niece Eliz’th [Cannell] [a] watch, the foot part of the bed curtains and a [looking glass] as legacy. Item I further leave and bequeath to my niece’s Margaret and Catherine Killip one of my shoals between them. Item I leave and bequeath to my niece Margery Vondy all the remaining part of my wearing apparel as legacy. I leave and bequeath six pence legacy to such cravers that will [sue] to break or disannull this my last will and testament. [lastly] I do nominate constitute and appoint my niece Margery Vondy to be my Exec’x in trust. That’s that she is to have only the use and benefit of all the residue of my effects moveable and immoveable of what kind or nature soever during her life, and then after her decease the whole of my aforesd. Exec’x ship to fall to her three youngest daughters. In witness wherof I have hereunto set my name and seal this the 10th. Day of July. One Thousand and Seven Hundred and Ninety Three. Signed sealed published and declared by the Testatrix Margaret Garret as her last will and Testament who at her request and in her presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereunto. ( Her seal ) William Christian) jun Edward Christian) At a chapter court holden at lezaire June 28th. 1795 Wm Vondy husband of Margery Vondy the Exec’x above named is sworn **** in court in form of law hereby to bring to the registry a perfect inventory & hath given Pledges for the payment of debts & legacies [namely] James Clark & Wm Killip both Of .Lezayre. [Robert Martin] [Thos Cubbon] Whereas Margaret Garret late of the Parish of Lezayre deceased did by her last will and testament bequeath unto the poor of the town of Ramsey the sum of five pounds British . Whch said sum was to be laid out at interest for the use & [benefit] of the Poor of said town. We Thomas Howard & Wm Martin wardens of the said town of Ramsey for the time being do hereby acknowledge to have rec’d from Wm Vondy Exec’r of the last will & testament of said marg’t Garret the said sum of five pounds British a legacy bequeathed by the said Marg’t Garret for the use of the poor of said town of Ramsey And we do hereby aquit release exonerate discharge the said Wm Vondy from all claims & demands for or on acc’t of said legacy of five pounds British bequeathed unto the poor of the town of Ramsey as aforesaid as witness our names this 5th. Day Of March 1796-- Before me [Thos] Cubbon Thos Howard Wm Martin I Charles Radcliffe do hereby acknowledge to have rec’d from William Vondy Exec’r Of the last will & Testament of Marg’t Garret the legacy bequeathed my wife Jane Radcliffe by the last will of Marg’t Garret late deceased, & I do hereby aquit release & exonerate the said Wm Vondy from all claims or demands for or on [acct] of the legacy bequeathed my said wife Jane Radcliffe by the last will & testament of Marg’t Garret as witness my [hand] to my name this 5th. March 1796----- Before me [Thos] Cubbon Charles Radcliffe his x mark. I Charles Radcliffe Jun’r do hereby acknowledge to have rec’d from Wm Vondy Exec’r of the last will & testamt of Marg’t Garret aforesd a bible & prayer book & large [fir] chist the same being a legacy bequeathed me by the last will & testamt Of sd. Margt Garret, and I do hereby aquit release exonerate discharge the sd Wm Vondy of all claims or demands for or on acct of sd articles bequeathed me as aforesd. Witness my hand this 5th.
