Articles of Marriage concluded and agreed upon by and between Daniel Cannell
of East Ballarenny of BallaFreer in the parish of KK Michael by
and with the joint consent of free approbation of Catharine Cannell his
wife for an in behalf of their son Thos Cannell their son and heir of the
one part and Wm Callin of the parish of KK Patrick for an in behalf of his
daughter Joney on the other part as follows:
First it is agreed upon that the said Thos Cannell and Joney Callin are to
be joined together in the Holy estate of Matrimony within one month next
ensuing the date here of God and his Holy church permitting.
Secondly It is agreed up and the said Danl Cannell and Catherine Cannell
his wife doth hereby give grant settle and forever absolutely estate upon
their said son Thomas all and every their estate of houses and lands situate
in the parish of Kirk Michael in all respects whatever to have and
to hold unto him the said Thomas Cannell and Joney Callin his intended
wife the said premises the one moiety thereof  in present or immediate
possession and the other half thereof immediately after the decease of the
survivor of them the said Daniel Cannell and Catharine his wife  -
and the said Daniel Cannell and Cath his wife doth also hereby give grant
and settle upon their said son and his intended wife all and every their
goods chattels credits and effects in all respects whatever the one half
thereof in present possession and the other half thereof immediately after
the decease of the longer liver of them the said Daniel Cannell and
Catharine his wife reserving to themselves the bed whereon they sleep
as also the bedding thereof.
Thirdly It is agreed upon and the said Thomas Cannell doth hereby bind
and oblige himself to pay off and fully and absolutely to discharge all
and every the all encumbrances now due and incumbent upon the said premises
of lands in all respect as also all and every the debts  of the
said Daniel Cannell and Cath his wife to their own proper use during
their life and the life of the survivor of them and the said Thos Cannell
and Joney Callin his intended wife doth hereby oblige themselves to live
with the said Danl Cannel and Cath his wife and to all the premises with
them during their natural life or the life of the survivor of them.
Fourthly It is agreed upon and the said Wm Callin doth hereby oblige
himself to give unto the said Thomas Cannell as portion dowry of
Marriage Goods with his said daughter Joney the sum of Forty pounds.
And for the faithful performance of all and singular this Deed of
Contract the parties concerned doth hereby firmly bind and oblige themselves
each one to the other and the heirs executors administrators and assigns of
them and of each of them respectively in the penalty of three hundred pounds
sterling.  As witness their subscriptions this third day of May 1791

Patrick Nelson one of the witness to the before written Articles of Marriage
made oath upon the Holy Evangelist that Daniel Cannell and Catharine his
wife and Wm Callin therein named now all deceased duly executed the said
Articles of Marriage as their proper act and deed in the presence of the
said deponent and of John Caine the other witness to the said Articles and
now also deceased            Before me     John Lace

At a Court Baron holden at KK Michael for Michael Sheading the 12th
April 1796
The before written Articles of Marriage being proved before the
Deemster and now openly published in court and no objection offered against
it.  The same is therefore allowed of and ordered to be recorded for the
benefit of all persons concerned.

At a Chapter Court holden at KK Michael on the 9th June 1796
The beforegoing Articles of Marriage having been lawfully attested by
the Worshipful Deemster Lace and Daniel Cannell and Catharine his wife
the donors having departed this life the same are accepted as and for their
last will and testament and Thomas Cannell the donee is thereupon sworn
executor in court in form of law and hath given pledges for the payment of
debts namely Hugh Cain and John Corlett both of the parish of KK Michael
Acceptum est
