In the name of God Amen.
I William Gawn of the Rowaney in the parish of Kirk Christ Rushen being
weak in body but of a sound mind and memory and calling to mind the
uncertainty of human life do make this my last will and testament in manner
following this the 3d day of October 1797.
First I commit my soul to God who gave it and my body to Christian
burial.
Secondly I leave and bequeath to my eldest son and heir William Gawn
one half crown.
Thirdly to my son's namely James, Mathew and Henry Gawn I leave and bequeath
twenty pounds for each of them.
And to my daughters Susannah Gawn I likewise leave twenty pounds.
To my son Thos Gawn I leave nothing but his apprentice fee and should he
contend and go to law about my effects I hereby deprive them with a six
pence legacy.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my loving wife Susannah Gawn sole
executrix of all the rest of my goods moveable and immoveable of what kind
or nature soever.

At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown on the 3d Nov 1797.  The executrix
is sworn in court in form of law and as also guardian and supervisor of the
children under age and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and
legacies namely Wm Gawn her son and the Revd
John Clague of Rushen.    Probatum Est     Ev: Christian.
