ALLEN, Catherine 1797 Lez A 86 0106232 In the Name of God Amen We Richard Allen and Catharine Allen my wife of the Parish of Lezayre being advanced in years but of a Sound disposing Mind, Memory and Understanding Do make this our Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say - First we Recommend our Souls to God and our Bodies to decent and Christian burial at the Discretion of the Survivor of us. We also Give and Leave unto our son Richard Symons of [Bibalooin] in the Parish of Conchan, our Silver Cup, Silver Cream Jug and our large folio Bible - We give and leave Him also four hundred pounds British in Trust to be laid out on interest by Him, and the said Interest to be by Him applied for and [towards] the yearly Support and Maintenance of our son Henry Allen in _____ washing, Lodging and Decent apparel for and during his natural life and no Longer - And in Case our Said son Henry may think [propose] to live and reside with others of his sisters or with his brother [Symons] after the decease of the Survivor of us, that then and in that case, the said Sister or Brother with whom he may think proper to Live and Reside is to have fifty pounds British of the said fund of four hundred Pounds after his the said Henry's decease as a Compensation for the Civility which may be shown him - And the Remainder Three hundred and fifty pounds We Give and Leave to our two Daughters Catharine and Elizabeth equally between them if they survive our said son Henry and if they do not [survive] him We order the same Sum to be divided amongst their children equally, share and share alike We also Give and Leave to our Daughter Jane one hundred pounds Brit. A furnished feather bed, our best Looking Glass, and such other pieces of our furniture as she as she shall think proper to fix on, and accept of We also Give and Leave unto our other two Daughters Catharine and Elizabeth One hundred pounds British apiece together with a furnished feather bed apiece as also our Table and Tea Silver spoons equally between them We also Leave and order Five pounds to the Poor of the Parishes of Lezaire, Maughold and Conchan to be distributed amongst them equally at the Discretion of the Vicar and Wardons And we hereby Order and direct that the forgoing Legacies are not to become payable unto the respective Legators until the Death of the Survivor of us and all the Rest, Residuals, Chattels, Mortgages, Bills, Bonds, Cash Credits and Effects moveable and immoveable of what kind nature or Denomination soever, and where we shall dispossess or any way _____ unto. Allen the Survivor is sworn Exor. in court in form of Law & hath given pledges for the payment of Debts & Legacies namely the s'd Richard Symons of Douglas & Wm Christian of Balla[yonnage] KK Bride Probatum est Thos. Cubbon On Nov. 23, 1802 the wardens of Lezayre Parish accepted there share of the five pound Legacy to the Poor. The acknowledgement was signed by Daniel Stephen, Tho. Corlett, John Caley and Wm. Vondy. On Nov. 23, 1802 the wardens of Maughold Parish accepted their share of the five pound Legacy to the Poor. The Acknowledgement was signed by Robert Christian, Thomas Morrison, Thomas Quayle and William Creer
