That yr Petrs Parents namely Thomas Skillicorn and Judy Skillicorn his wife

Petrs Great and inexpressible Grief whose Eyes had been for many years Dry
yet could not refrain from contributing to the General sorrow and though
the Deceased were Tenants in said Parish overcharged with Rent, had nothing
to support themselves with but their Daily Labour but previous to their
Decease they nominated and appointed yr Petrs whole and sole Executors of
all their Lands Houses and Effects as by the contents of the will may more
fully appear and as the Deceadts had a charge of small children the
youngest being not two years old who strictly charged yr Petrs to bring up
the said children in a christian Like and Decent manner and to Give them
Education and Trade and if there would be any overplus or Remainder of the

Petrs did submit to the mature judgment of the decd who always with bowels
of Love and compassion studied yr Petrs welfare And as yr Petrs are Green
in such cases and ignorant thereof, they fly unto yr Reverences for Relief
Your Petrs therefore most humbly pray your Reverence may be pleased to
take this case into a Tender consideration and to allow yr Petrs to take an

To the Revd Mr Christian and the Revd Mr Crellin vicars Genl of this Isle
The Humble Petition of Philip and Chas Skillicorn of the parish of Lonnon
Sheweth
That Thos Skillicorn and his wife now deceased prior to their death some
little time made a joint will at the same time Nominating your Petrs to be
their Executors & desiring (?) them to take care of the rest of the
Children untill they wou'd come to age, And that they were to expend upon
them all the effects that remained after the Legacies were paid to the rest
of the children that were then at Age — and if any of the effects remained
after the young children arrived that your Petrs were to make it good to
them — That your Petrs were also sworn guardians at the house of Thos
Quine about six months ago, and the effects of the deceased were
immediately afterwards legally appraised — That your Petrs are now at a
loss how to act as they are ignorant how much the Law will allow them for
the care and maintainance of the aforesd Children which are five in number
Your Petrs therefore earnestly pray that your Reverences would be
graciously pleased to take their case into a tender consideration, and
appoint a certain annual sum for the maintanance of the sd Children, And
that as your Petrs have but very little for their trouble they are desirous
that your Reverences would grant them the liberty of possessing the sd
effects at the price of the fore sworn [..?..] of which your Petrs have an
Inventory to show — And your Petrs shall every pray tc.
