Santan This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of Margaret Cottier (otherwise Fannan) of the parish of Kirk Santan who departed this life the twenty sixth day of July 1803. She being of sound mind memory and understanding at the time of pronouncing and declaring the following words being on the third day of June preceeding as hereinafter mentioned. First she recommended her soul to God and her body to the earth. Item: She bequeathed and left unto her eldest daughter Margaret a cotton gown, a black quilted petticoat, two muslin aprons, a quilt, a pair of stays, a little spinning wheel, the largest of the tea kettles and in case she should get the table cloth that she should give unto her brother William a shirt in lieu thereof. Item: She bequeathed and left unto her youngest daughter Charlotte all and singular the rest of her shaped apparel both woolen and linen, a quilt, a little spinning wheel and the least of the tea kettles, she mentioned the flax that was in the house to be equally betwixt her said daughters Margaret and Charlotte. Item: She left unto her son William a coverlaid and five shillings in cash as a legacy. She left unto her three sons namely Thos, John, and Charles the sum of five shillings a piece. Item: She left unto her two youngest sons namely Robert and James half a guinea a piece. Lastly She nominated and appointed her loving husband Thomas Cottier sole executor of all the rest of her goods and effects, movable and immovable of what kind or denomination soever, hereby excluding every other person or persons with six pence each legacy. Witnesses: Wm Gawn his mark X Elizabeth Creer her mark X At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown Nov 10th 1803. The executor is sworn in court in form of law and also guardian and supervisor of the children under age and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely John Kigg and Wm Gawn the Witnesses: Probatums Est Ev:Christian,John Crellin.
