Maughold Know all men by these presents that I Daniel Joughin of Rhenab in the parish of KK Maughold and Isabel Joughin alis Kerruish my wife divers good causes and reasons us hereunto moving but chiefly and more especially for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which we have and do bear unto our loving and affectionate children do hereby declare this to be our joint will and Settlement of our personal estate and effects subject to such conditions reservations and restrictions as are herein after mentioned. First We will devise and settle upon our loving and affectionate son John Joughin after the decease of the longest liver of us all our right and title that we have of in an unto the three corn milns and the lands belonging to the said Milns which are in the parish of Kk Maughold aforesaid as and for a compensation unto him our said son - for the monies which he sent home to us for our own use at Sundry times. We will and settle upon the three children of our daughter Jane Kissack vizt Margaret Kissack, John Kissack and Thomas Kissack the sum of ten pounds currency a piece but their mother and our daughter is to have the use of said money during her natural life or upon the death of the mother before the said children arrive at the age of eighteen years then the said money is to be secured unto and for them until the youngest of them arrive at the age of eighteen years. We will devise and settle to an upon our daughter Judy the sum of one guinea and whereas the sum of one hundred pounds currency is already given and paid unto her as dowry, the said one hundred pounds is to be first reckoned unto her and afterwards she is to be entitled to a share of whatever overplus may remain after the rest of our children vizt John Joughin, Ann Kerruish, Isabel Kermod, Margaret Kermeen, Catharine Cottiman and Ely Joughin and Jane Kissack are paid one hundred pounds each reckoning unto any of them whatever sums or sum of money may to them may have already received as part dowry and reckoning unto Jane Kissack as part payment unto her the thirty pounds already settled upon her children. We also devise and settle upon our son Robert Joughin and Jane his wife all the cloths of me Daniel Joughin his father of whatever description and also our share of the crop after the decease of the longest liver of us and also a sheep a piece to the four children of our son Robert Joughin. We will devise and settle upon our daughter Ely the sum of twenty pounds to be paid unto her first and afterward to be entitled to an equal share of our property and effects with the rest of our children providing she our said daughter Ely Joughin is content and obeys quietly with the same but is our said daughter Ely Joughin contends or ------- at law for any money or monies which might have been directly or indirectly ordered by our deceased son Daniel Joughin by letter or otherwise to be paid unto her the said Ely Joughin then and in that case we hereby declare she shall only be entitled to twenty shillings value of our goods and effects and whatever share or portion might have been hers shall be divided equally between the rest of our children subject to the conditions and restrictions already written. We leave unto the rest of our children vizt John Joughin, Ann Kerruish alias Joughin, Isabel Kermod alias Joughin, Margaret Kermeen alias Joughin, Catharine Cottiman alias Joughin, Jody Corkill alias Joughin, Jane Kissack alias Joughin and Ely Joughin (spinster) reckoning as part payment unto Jane Kissack ten pounds which we paid sometimes past unto her husband and also the thirty pounds already settled upon her children all amounting to forty pounds and it is hereby to be understood that our daughters Ann Kerruish, Isabel Kermod, Margaret Kermeen and Catharine Cottiman have only received as yet the sum of twenty pounds a piece as dowry all the rest of our property interest goods chattels and effects of whatever kind or denomination to be equally divided between our aforesaid children vizt John Joughin, Ann Kerruish, Isabel Kermod, Margt Kermeen, Cath Cottiman, Judy Corkill, Jane Kissack and Ely Joughin, still carefully reckoning to each or either of them whatever sum or sums of money has been already paid unto then, made Isabel Joughin one of the executing parties to this will and settlement declares that if she dies before her husband the said Daniel Joughin that then and in that case the said Daniel Joughin her husband is to have the sole management of her share of the goods and effects to his own use or as he may think proper from a consideration that he would be better able to see justice done. Lastly We nominate constitute authorize and appoint our son Robert Joughin and William Kerruish our son in law to be joint trustees and managers of this our last legal act and deed will and settlement to see that every thing be done fairly according to these presents. In witness whereof we have each of us caused our names and marks to be subscribed and set this 15 day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight 1808. Daniel Joughin Senior his X Isabel Joughin als Kerruish her X Signed and duly executed in presence of us who have become witnesses to this deed of Settlement at the request of Danl Joughin and Isabel his wife. Thos Cubbon Robert Kerruish Daniel Joughin and Wm Kerruish sworn in to execute the said decease Deed of Settlement pledges Richard Kermod and Wm Kissack both of Maughold. Robert Joughin also sworn 24 Nov 1808. We William Kermeen, Richard Kermode, William Kissack, John Corkill and Philip Cottiman all of KK Maughold and Daniel Joughin of KK Bride husbands of Margt, Isabella, Jane, Judy, Catharine, Alice and Margaret Joughin widow of John Joughin do hereby acknowledge to have fully received our respective distributive shares of the residuum of the estate of Daniel Joughin and wife of Rhenab deceased from Robt Joughin and William Kerruish Trustees of the last will and testament of the said Daniel Joughin and wife. And the said will or Settlement being recorded in the Rolls Office and also at the Registry Office at KK Michael. We therefore request the same to be and hereinafter may stand cancelled on the records of this Isle.
