 Know all men by
these presents that I Catharine Kewin alias Key of the town
of Douglas widow divers good causes and considerations me hereunto moving
but chiefly and more especially for and in consideration of the natural love
and affection which I have and do bear towards my two daughters my only
children namely Margaret and Elizabeth Kewin now
living with me and for their better promotion in the world and the
further consideration of the sum of five shillings to me in hand now paid
at the execution of these presents by the said Margaret Kewin and Elizabeth
Kewin Have given granted settled, estated, and confirmed and
by these presents do give, grant, settle, estate and confirm unto and
upon my said two daughters the said Margaret Kewin and Elizabeth Kewin
equally share and share alike all and singular that my share right title
and interest of in and unto that  dwelling house with the back yard
thereunto belonging and adjoining being situate in the town of Douglas
aforesaid and adjoining the tents of Edward Caley and John Kelly and the
common Street - Together with all  ways, waters, water courses, easements
liberties rights member and appurtenances to the premises belonging or in
any wise appertaining.  Also all and singular that my mortgage on part of
the estate lands and premises of William Kewley Agneish in the parish of
Lonan for the principal money of forty pounds British.  And also all and
singular my household furniture, goods and effects of what kind or nature
soever.  To have and to hold all and
singular the premises before mentioned unto them the said Margaret
Kewin and Elizabeth Kewin their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns
to their only proper use and behoof immediately upon the
decease of me the said Catharine Kewin for ever, reserving unto myself for
and during my natural life.  The enjoyment rents, issues and profits
of my share of the said house and concerns hereby settled, as also the
interest of the said mortgage and also the use and enjoyment of the
household furniture, goods and effects, hereby settled for and owing my
natural life.  And for performance of these presents I the said Catharine
Kewin do hereby bind and oblige myself and my heirs, executors, and
administrators in and under the penalty or forfeiture of one hundred pounds
lawful British money to be levied and paid according to law.
As witness my hand this 20th day of November 1806.

At a Court Baron holden in Castle Rushen for Middle Sheading the 20th
day of April 1808.
The before written Deed of Settlement having been acknowledge before
an High Bailiff and being now openly published in court and no objection
offered against it.  The same is therefore orders to be recorded

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas June 21st 1808.  The before going Deed
of Settlement having been lawfully proved the same is accepted as
an for the last will and testament of Cath Kewin.  Elizabeth Kewin being
under age Margt Kewin is sworn executor in form of law and hath given
pledges for payment of debts namely John Kelly and John Curphey both of
Douglas
Acceptament   Thos Cubbon

I Catharine Kewin alias Kay of the town of Douglas do hereby nominate
and appoint John Kelly and Jane Kelly his wife of said town of Douglas to
be guardians over my daughter Elizabeth Kewin and I do authorize and entitle
the said John and Jane Kelly to the yearly income due to my
daughter Elizabeth Kewin whereby she is to be decently victualled
appareled and educated.  As witness my name and subscription this 9th Jan

And furthermore order that my daughter Elizabeth Kewn be regularly taught
